my comment: The NWO is not some
occult bullshit. It's merely globalization,
i.e. corporatism, i.e. international fascism.
Period.
OK,
there's certainly some more ragged edges, but that's obviously the gist
of it.
What
is YOUR value as a human being? Depends how you measure it.
If you measure it by means of capitalism, the value of a human being
approaches zero as time moves towards 2049. Global trade does part of
that. Computers do the rest. You're FUNGIBLE.
This is
actually a call FOR SOCIALISM or for some form of HUMANISM -- but
obviously a grassroots variety, not some Stalinistic parasitic variety.
We need a vision that preserves the value of human beings AS human
beings, NOT as mere worthless and expendable economic corporate cogs.

as the most well-known advocate of the ‘functional approach
to world order’, Richard Gardner, wrote:
the
hope for the
foreseeable
future lies not in building up a few ambitious central institutions
of universal membership and general jurisdiction as was envisaged at
the end of the last war, but rather in the much more decentralized,
disorderly and pragmatic process of inventing or adapting
institutions of limited jurisdiction and selected membership to deal
with specific problems on a case by case basis, as the necessity for
cooperation is perceived by the relevant nations...In short the
“house of world order” will have to built from bottom up,
rather than from top down...an end run around national sovereignty,
eroding it piece by piece will accomplish much more than the
old-fashioned frontal assault.
For most New World Order researchers, however, this might
seem like
an arcane, academic distinction, maybe even the product of a profound
intellectual failure to search for the ‘hidden agenda’
behind the dogma and doctrine emanating from the seats of power. Or
even some skilful propaganda designed to deceive rather than inform
with its contrasting explanations of world order. But in truth it
should be seen for what it is: an admission to diversity of opinion
within the Establishment, even though the accepted spectrum of
opinion was quite narrow. These divisions had been already explicitly
acknowledged by Jimmy Carter during the 1976 presidential campaign,
with his declaration that ‘the time had come’ to replace
‘balance of power politics with world order politics.’
Yet even this two-fold division is misleading. For one,
the boundaries
between the two groups are sometimes blurred; indeed, irrespective of
what think-tank, political party or social club they belong to, or
which corporate entity they either own or represent, the positions
taken by leading Establishment figures at times defies such
simplistic characterisations. The other reason is that Nye’s
neat labels exclude a third group, usually known as the
‘neo-conservatives’, whose vision of world order is based
on the exclusive and overt global hegemony of the United States. And
it is the emergence of this so-called ‘neo-conservative’
faction, which is credited with formulating much of George W. Bush’s
post-9/11 foreign policy, that is the subject of Part Two of this
study.

Chapter 1
: THE MATRIX - Longer essay.
Americans
make the mistake
of assuming that Fascism is BAD!
Not
according to Michael
Ledeen, (Ledeen is one of the more vocal and blunt of the Neo-cons.)
Ledeen is
probably the biggest
influence
behind Bush admin policies.
Ledeen is
considered "Karl Rove's brain", he's one of
the main
philosophers (if you want
to call it that) of
the Bush
administration strategy. He's a colleague of Richard Perle (nickname, seriously:
Prince of Darkness),
and of Paul
Wolfowitz one of the key architects and promoter of the Iraq War
(Wolfowitz now
ascended to Ruler of the Universe as head of the World Bank).
Ledeen is a
member of the (javascript popups) American
Enterprise Institute and is friends with all the people
over at PNAC. (AEI
is sister group to Heritage Foundation, and shares the same building.
In the 1980s, Heritage sponsored or housed in it's offices THREE lobby
groups for violent Afghan-Saudi mujahideen fighters -- who later became
called "Al-Qaeda".)
A product of the Bradley Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute
(AEI) led the neo-con charge, but the real push for war came from the
Project for a New American Century (PNAC) another organization helped
by the Bradley Foundation.
"Ledeen's ideas are repeated daily
by such figures
as Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld
and Paul
Wolfowitz. . . (and on talk
radio). He basically believes
that violence in the
service of the spread of democracy is America's manifest destiny.
Consequently, he has become the philosophical legitimator of the
American occupation of Iraq."
In
fact, Ledeen's
influence goes even further. The BBC, the
Washington Post and Jim Lobe writing for the Asia Times. report
that Michael Ledeen is the only full-time international affairs analyst
consulted by Karl Rove
(President G.W. Bush's "brain"). Ledeen
has regular conversations with Rove.
The Washington Post said,
"More than once, Ledeen has seen his
ideas faxed to Rove, become official
policy or rhetoric."
"Though he appears on conservative outlets
like the Fox television network, Ledeen has not been singled out for
much media attention by the Bush administration,
despite his extensive influence in Washington. His views may be
perceived as too extreme for
most Americans, who prefer to think of the United States as pursuing violence only when attacked
and manifesting primarily altruistic
goals toward other nations."
far from merely reporting on Billy Carter's meetings in Libya, Ledeen collaborated with Italian
intelligence sources to use Billy Carter's ill-conceived trip to
Libya to create an "influence peddling
scandle."
Ledeen used his connections with the newly elected Reagan
administration to promote author Claire Sterling's claims of a vast
Soviet-controlled terror network.
Ledeen's daughter is Simone
Ledeen, who went to work for the Coalition
Provisional Authority in Iraq in October 2004 and ended up in a
position of considerable responsibility.
- Ledeen is an "adjunct scholar" at the American Enterprise Institute.
-
Ledeen was involved in Bush's "October Surprise Committee", making arms
deals with Iran while they held back the hostages for Bush, Reagan. (Robert Parry covered that pretty well, online, and based on book by Gary Sick.)
-
Ledeen is either a direct advisor to the Pentagon via the Defense Policy Board (which has access to classified info that ordinary Americans cannot see) or is indirectly an advisor via close relations to other DPB members. He's part of the crew with Richard Perle and PNAC.
-
Ledeen is top advisor to Bush, Cheney, and Poppy Bush. He's not some "nobody".
-
Ledeen is featured as a "terrorism expert" on Fox and CNN, etc, and is a regular columnist on Pajamas Media and other websites.
-
Ledeen wrote a harangue demanding that the US attack Iraq, dated Sept 11, 2001, named Code Alpha. Later he stated that he never thought that invading Iraq was a good idea, but he thinks that bombing Iran is a great idea. Switcheroo.
Ledeen
literally wrote the book on Fascism.
Universal
Fascism: The Theory and Practice of the Fascist International,
1928-1936, published in 1972. (out of
print and I haven't read
it yet, just quotes)
Ledeen attempted
to
differentiate between an ideal, revolutionary "fascist
movement," which
he views in a positive
light, and the failed, under-reaching "fascist regime."
(that
would be "revolutionary" as in "destroying democracy globally" in the
name of "democracy", he advocates
violence and brutality as a legitimate and ideal method of shaping the world to
suit American hegemonic interests)
Ledeen admired
the
dictatorial methods of Benito Mussolini.
Ledeen criticizes Mussolini precisely for not being revolutionary enough.
Ledeen's books also include Gabrielle
D'Annunzio, a glowing biography of the eccentric Italian fascist.
"...fascism nevertheless constituted a political revolution in Italy.
For the first time, there was an attempt to mobilize the masses and to
involve them in the political life of the country. (except for the lively socialist movement which Mussolini led, then quit and returned later with corporate backing to crush it)
American Enterprise Institute (Bush's "outsourced
brain") -- AEI policy proposals is what Ledeen has
aptly
described as:
'universal
fascism': a
revival, in principle,
of
the goals of the Nazi Waffen-SS.
Ledeen published a book on Machiavelli too --
basically, to rule the stupid peasants and to conquer others, the ends justify the means.
This is not the language of a statesman but a tyrant.
If Bush is not a fascist, why are actual fascists his top advisors?
Ledeen 'hoped' that America would get "lucky" and suffer a major bloodbath like Pearl Harbor.
Was Pearl Harbor a "lucky" day for us? Didn't lots of people die?
We got "lucky" on Sept 11, 2001 -- didn't we?
Isn't it a conflict of interest to WANT America to suffer a gruesome bloodbath disaster, and at the same time claim to be against terrorism? Why has this guy not been arrested yet and tortured to see what he knows?

Code
Alpha was published by Ledeen on Sept 11, 2001 (that very day!)
[...]
Machiavelli
famously said that it’s impossible to get good
leaders in peacetime. We will now find out if we have leaders capable
of waging war."
Ledeen says, the CIA cannot hold a candle to Laurie Mylroie,
who works for Benador Associates. Laurie is called "the neo-cons
favorite conspiracy theorist".
Info on Benador from RightWeb.
Wrties journalist Jim
Lobe of Benador's work: "When historians look back on the United States
war in Iraq, they will almost certainly be struck by how a small group of mainly neo-conservative
analysts and activists outside the administration were able to
shape the US media debate in ways that made the drive to war so much
easier . . .
Ledeen was
investigated by the FBI in the past decades for treason
for his dealings with Israel,
and lost
his security
clearance as the result. (The
fact that National
Vanguard links to the same James Petras story is immaterial, except
that Ledeen's
actions fuel
anti-Semitic sentiment.)
Ledeen
was
also a lynchpin in the treasonous Iran-Contra
conspiracy. (Douglas Valentine, Vietnam
vet, is the author of The Phoenix
Program, the only comprehensive account of the CIA's torture and
assassination operation in Vietnam, as well as TDY a chilling novel about the CIA
and the drug trade.)
Ledeen
was the one who passed on the "yellowcake
uranium
from Niger story"
about Iraq to Rove and Cheney.)
To the
degree that Ledeen and his group runs America --- and they
do --- and to the degree we can ascertain how fascist
Ledeen is by what he says --- straight from the horse's
mouth --- we should then be able to ascertain how fascist
America is right now. (If you asked
Ledeen, he'd say "Not
Fascist
enough".) We can also ascertain how fascist America is becoming,
where we are headed.
In the current debate over "regime change" in Iran, Ledeen is a major
voice for an aggressive US policy to overthrow the mullahs, which he
sees as but one small part of his vision of an American-led "global
democratic revolution."
Man of the World - Michael Ledeen's adventures in history Boston Globe local mht
Ledeen: "In
their brave new world, corporations
are more suited to governance than
are the unpredictable rabble called citizens. Corporations
should
control politics, control the commons, control health care,
control our
airwaves, control the 'free' market, and even control our schools."
The Ledeen enigma -- extolling democracy while calling for iron
political discipline -- can be traced back to what he has called "the
usual Machiavellian paradox: Compulsion -- or necessity, as he terms it
-- makes men noble, and enables them to remain free, while abundant
choice is dangerous, leads to chaos, and leaves men at the mercy of
their enemies."

Flirting with Fascism Neocon theorist Michael Ledeen draws more from Italian
fascism than from the American Right.
By John Laughland
On the antiwar Right, it has been customary to attack the
warmongering neoconservative clique for its Trotskyite origins. Certainly, the
founding father of neoconservatism, Irving Kristol, wrote in 1983 that he was
“proud” to have been a member of the Fourth International in 1940.
[...]
But there is at least one neoconservative
commentator whose personal political odyssey began with a fascination not with
Trotskyism, but instead with another famous political movement that grew up in
the early decades of the 20th century: fascism. I refer to Michael Ledeen,
leading neocon theoretician, expert on Machiavelli, holder of the Freedom Chair
at the American Enterprise Institute, regular columnist for National Review—and
the principal cheerleader today for an extension of the war on terror to include
regime change in Iran.

SEPT 11 = LUCKY EVENT ... for Dictators
Cong.
Ron Paul
(R-TX): Ledeen writes of a fortuitous event
(1999): “…of
course, we can
always get lucky.
Stunning
events from outside can
providentially awaken the enterprise from its growing torpor, and
demonstrate the need for reversal, as the devastating Japanese attack
on Pearl Harbor in 1941 so
effectively aroused the U.S. from its soothing dreams of permanent
neutrality.”
(translation: an attack on America would be GREAT! And necessary.)
Amazingly,
Ledeen calls Pearl Harbor a
“lucky” event.
He
says this in the context of hoping for a possible future
disaster.
In his viewpoint, Sept 11 was
a stroke of luck!!
DO
YOU
CONSIDER NINE-ELEVEN
"LUCKY" FOR AMERICA?
How fortunate!
Do you know anyone
else who considers Pearl Harbor or Sept 11 "lucky"?
Have
you turned them in to Homeland Security? Or should they just be
be killed? (rhetoric)
Anyone other than America's ruling class that is?
(other leaders and pundits said it was necessary, and they want a new one, but only Ledeen said "lucky")
PRO-TERRORISM
NOTE: Ledeen and PNAC and Brzezinski who referred to Pearl Harbor, could not
have actually called
Sept 11
"lucky" ... because it had not yet happened, unless you assume that
their "wishful thinking" was a bit more than that. Given their
positions in the heart of the beast, well ... .
When
one domestic murder occurs, who is the cops' first suspect? A
close relative or friend. If a close relative or friend is
discovered to have made positive suggestions or statements
about this murder, or if detectives find an incriminating paper trail
of notes and connections, detectives will immediately consider that
person a prime suspect. Everybody knows that. It's obvious. We've all watched many cop shows. We have common sense.
That fact that NOBODY in the media or FBI or 9-11 Commission or anyone
has made this simple, obvious observation, this is a strong clue that
something about this STINKS!!! "Lt. Colombo" would be all over this suspect.
The irony is that
the Bush admin and various pundits
have regularly accused "liberals"
of "hating America", of being "glad" for Sept 11, of "aiding and abetting the terrorists".
Yet THEY are the ones who CHEERED and SAID it was great! Did they meet after to celebrate??
I've repeatedly heard "conservative" Bush bots openly calling for a new wave of
terrorist attacks, to "teach us a
lesson" that their racism,
paranoia, and
militarism is the correct attitude.
(One
can hardly blame the Bushbots ... Sept 11 was a GREAT op, pulled off
very well, no one could believe our own officials did it.
Sure there are a lot of holes in it, most of them flagged by the
Mainstream Media --- lightly and forgotten --- but it was very well
done. Great pyrotechnics. All the news chiming in, with the
right timing.
And it was preceded by many years of pounding home nasty "messages"
about "liberals" and "rage" and "enemies", creating a pre-disposed
attitude.)
Yet here is a NEOCON LEADER
who calls Pearl Harbor/Sept 11 "LUCKY"
because it cut loose the shackles
holding them back from a bloody war,
and we're supposed to be turning to them for SAFETY and SECURITY?!!!
"All
we need is the right major crisis
and the nations will accept the New World Order."
--
David
Rockefeller, Tri-Lateral founder
The "New World Order" has spooky connotations of Biblical Armageddon, but it's really just Totalitarian Corporate Globalization.
Which means a world based on Greed as the highest moral value.
Which is arguably "Satanic", even in a non-Biblical sense.
For many people now, it's already hell-on-Earth.
Starvation. Perpetual slave labor.
Constant threat of "Security" forces.
Now,
they aren't going to come right out and admit they orchestated it, but
they DO agree it
was just a stroke
of luck that
their ex-CIA asset
Osama bin
Laden just happened to
be
around to pull this off at just the perfect
moment in history when they were hoping to
find a
pretext to invade
the Middle East and exert Total
Dominance over
the whole world.
I
don't mean just this clique. I'm talking about the very top of
the Political - Military - Industrial - Financial - Intelligence -
Security - Media complex, and any other hyphens I forgot.
Osama bin Laden said
in an apparently live (not
fabricated) interview that "Islamic Law forbids killing innocent non-combatants", that HE had nothing whatsoever to do
with
9-11, and
that it was a hidden
arm within the US foreign policy
establishment that pulled it off.
I
have no idea if this was real or if Osama is a totally fake icon, a CIA
asset.
Globalists
and Fascists like Ledeen and PNAC are the only group I KNOW OF who
consider Sept-11 "lucky".
Not even "Osama" (the original audio) considered it "lucky". He said Islam forbids attacking civilians only combatants.
The Project for a New American Century,
as recently as September 2000, likewise foresaw the need for “a Pearl Harbor event”
(Rebuilding America's Defenses, p.56)
that would galvanize
the American people to support their ambitious
plans to ensure political and economic domination of the world, while
strangling any potential “rival.”
How fortunate we were!
It's just a tiny baby step from seeing them call 9-11
"fortunate" and
"needed" to saying "inside job" ... but there's plenty of other
evidence besides their own words.
After 9-11, Rumsfeld and others
argued for an immediate attack on Iraq, even though it was not
implicated in the attacks.
LOOK: Republicans
brainstorm a
new terrorist attack might help or hurt Party.
Rumsfeld said that too in 2006: The correction for that (political disaffection with the Iraq War), I suppose, is an attack (on America).

"Every ten years or so, the

Michael Ledeen, American Enterprise Institute
Ledeen
specifically praises:
Creative destruction is our middle name,
both within our own society and abroad. We tear down the old order
every day, from business to science, literature, art, architecture, and
cinema to politics and the law. Our enemies have always hated this
whirlwind of energy and creativity, which menaces their traditions
(whatever they may be) and shames them for their inability to keep
pace. Seeing America undo traditional societies, they fear us, for they
do not wish to be undone. They cannot feel secure so long as we are
there, for our very existence—our existence, not our politics—threatens
their legitimacy. They must attack us in order to survive, just as we must destroy them to advance our historic mission.
(oh, so Ledeen wants
Muslims
to hate us: I wonder why!!) Just
what we all wanted for Christmas: Creative destruction.
"Without fear of God, no state can last long,
for the dread of eternal damnation keeps men in line, causes them to
honor their promises, and inspires them to risk their lives for the
common good....Without fear of punishment, men will not obey laws that
force them to act contrary to their passions. Without fear of arms, the
state cannot enforce the laws to this end, Machiavelli wants leaders to
make the state spectacular."
Ledeen's version of Machiavellianism: "Dying for one's country doesn't
come naturally. Modern armies, raised from the populace, must be
inspired, motivated, indoctrinated. Religion is central to the military enterprise,
for men are more likely to risk their lives if they believe they will
be rewarded forever after for serving their country." Ron Paul was
right to rebut this nonsense with the following. This is an admonition
that might just as well have been given by Osama bin Laden, in rallying
his troops to sacrifice their lives to kill the invading infidels, as
by our intellectuals at the AEI, who greatly influence our foreign
policy.
(This
inclusion of relgion was central to Bush strategy/image of "moral
clarity" in foreign policy -- good vs. evil. See Strauss below:
what type of religion does not matter, so long as it inspires fervent beliefs.)
Ron Paul: This is an
admonition that might just as well have been given by Osama bin Laden,

Observations, 1795
paraphrased:
War makes America weaker as a whole, and leads to domestic Tyranny. DUH!
from Sourcewatch:
' Change
-- above all violent change -- is the essence of human history,'
he proclaims in his book, Machiavelli
on Modern Leadership: Why Machiavelli's Iron Rules Are as Timely and
Important Today as Five Centuries Ago.
In an influential essay in the National Review Online [4] he asserts, 'Creative
destruction is our middle name. We do it automatically ... it is time
once again to export the democratic revolution.'
Ledeen has excoriated both the State Department and the United
Nations for their preference for diplomatic
solutions to conflict; and the CIA for equivocating on evidence
that would condemn 'America's enemies' and justify militant action.
“ One
can only hope that we turn the region into a cauldron, and faster,

Review
"There is every reason to believe we will succeed in
revolutionizing the Middle East, for we have always excelled at
destroying tyrannies.... We wage
total war, because we fight in the name of an idea -- freedom --
and ideas either triumph or fail."
"To be an effective leader, the most prudent method is to ensure that
your people are afraid of you," Ledeen wrote in "Machiavelli on Modern
Leadership." "To instill that fear, you must demonstrate that those who
attack you will not survive."
"New leaders with an iron will are required to root out the corruption
and either reestablish a virtuous state, or to institute a new one. .
.," he wrote. "If we bask in false security and drop our guard, the rot
spreads, corrupting the entire society. Once that happens, only violent
and extremely unpleasant methods can bring us back to virtue."
"All the great scholars who have studied American character have come
to the conclusion that we are a warlike people and that we love war. .
.," Ledeen declared. "What we hate is not casualties but losing."
This... is the problem of many successful republics, whose simple
virtues make them strong enough, at one point, to conquer other people
and assume imperial responsibilities. How can men, who are dedicated to
liberty and the defense of their own independence, efficiently dominate subject peoples,
without damning their own soul?.[...] And there, in two lovely
sentences, is the conundrum the United States must solve if we are to
have a second successive American
Century.
"In
order to achieve the
most
noble accomplishments, the
leader may
have to 'enter into evil.'
This is the chilling insight that has made Machiavelli so feared,
admired, and challenging. It is why we are drawn to him still..."
"Just
as
the quest for peace at any price invites war and, worse than
war, defeat and domination, so good
acts sometimes advance the triumph of evil,
as there are
circumstances when only
doing evil ensures the victory of a good cause."
(So Ledeen instructs: "George,
you MUST ENTER INTO EVIL to achieve Nobility".
That explains a lot.)
"Americans

There’s a precise reason to argue for
war over peace according to Ledeen, for “…peace
increases our peril by making discipline less urgent, encouraging some
of our worst instincts, in depriving us of some of our best leaders.”
Peace, he claims,
is a dream and not even a pleasant one, for it
would cause indolence and would undermine
the power of the state.

Leo
Strauss Grandfather Of Both The Neocons And The
Age Of Tyranny. Leo
Strauss, was a philosophy instructor at the University of Chicago. He
rejected this view of natural rights in favor of Plato’s
“philosopher-king” model of government. The students of Leo Strauss
left the University in search of political power; these took root in
the Republican Party, formed neo-conservatism and became known as
Neocons. These see themselves as “philosopher kings”.
Straussians assign dignity to the few.
The superiority of the “ruling philosophers” is an intellectual
superiority and not a moral one.
Straussian teaching holds that those who are fit to rule realize there
is neither
morality nor any God.
There is only one
Natural Right – the right of
the
superior to rule over the inferior.
Human beings are
born neither free nor equal. The natural human
condition is not one of freedom, but of subordination.
Worshipping is a characteristic of the
Age of Tyranny.
Leo Strauss taught that the Elite Few are to "ennoble" the Vulgar Many.
Straussians
must exercise their right to rule: "philosopher kings" are
to extinguish rabble fire, ennoble
the Vulgar Many, and to
fight unending war
to protect the homeland
If the Few
were to give the Many, such things as freedom,
happiness, and prosperity,
in Strauss's estimation, this
would turn them
into animals. The goal of the
wise is to
ennoble the vulgar.
But what
could
possibly ennoble us vulgar ones?
Enforced self-sacrifice, via permanent war.
Only weeping, worshipping, and
sacrificing ennobles
the many.
Leo Strauss taught that an elite, wise ruling
class must
rule
the unsophisticated masses by telling them noble lies for their own
good.
Leaders must use religion
to control the masses. Plato on steroids.
“Because mankind is intrinsically wicked, he has to be governed,”
Strauss wrote. “Such governance can only be established, however, when
men are united - and they can only be united against other people.” Leaders
must always provide an enemy.
"We
need a common
enemy to
unite us"
-
Condoleezza Rice, March 2000
Neocon
papers are thick with delusional
paranoia like the
following
from Richard
Perle, National Security Council and Defense Policy Board:
“No
stages, this is total war. We
are fighting a variety of enemies. There are lots of them out there.
All this talk about first we are going to do Afghanistan, then we will
do Iraq . . . this is entirely the wrong way to go about it. If we just
let our vision of
the
world go forth, and we embrace it entirely and we don't try to
piece together clever diplomacy, but just
wage a total war . . . our
children will sing great songs about us years from now.”
Michael Ledeen,
American Enterprise Institute Fellow,
former NSC, State, and Defense
Department consultant and influential White House advisor writes,
“We can
lead by the force of high moral example ... [but] fear is much more
reliable, and lasts longer. Once
we show that we are capable of dealing out terrible punishment to our
enemies, our power will be far greater. We
are a warlike people and we love war.”
The
belief in a single voice that governs the public should cause all
Americans to understand: these
men want to convert this nation to a permanent dictatorship.
Their inspirer was Leo Strauss, a professor who taught Machiavellian
methods to many of them at the University of Chicago. In fact, Paul Wolfovitz earned his doctorate
under Strauss and many of the neo-cons in the White House studied under
him. Strauss believed every society needs a “single public orthodoxy.” As Drury
put it, “a set of ideas that defines what is true and false, right and
wrong, noble and base.” Strauss believed that the role of religion was indispensable
to the political success of a nation. For a political society had to
hold together and act as a unit in lock
step with the leader. Strauss believed that religion was the means to inculcate
the desired ideas into the minds of the masses. He didn’t care what religion—just as long
as it was a religion that could link itself to the political order.

Just for fun, read how Ledeen feels about New Orleans:
The
combination of a
rich
culture of death with the looming threat of catastrophe is an
intoxicating mélange for the spirit.
Doomed
cities with an
intimate relationship with the dead are special
places, incubators of exceptional qualities of spirit and thus of
extraordinary inventiveness.
And rotting carcasses of loved ones, I might add.

deceit. Especially towards American sheep. No wonder our
Christian President picked you.)
"Lying
is
central to the
survival of nations ..." --
Neoconservative leader
Michael Ledeen
Lying
is central to the survival of nations and to the success of great
enterprises, because if our enemies can count on the reliability of
everything you say, your vulnerability is enormously increased....Look
at the map of the world: national boundaries have not been drawn by
peaceful men leading lives of spiritual contemplation. National
boundaries have been established by war, and national character has
been shaped by struggle, most often bloody struggle.?
--Michael Ledeen (Lying to whom? Which enemies? Machiavelli includes "domestic enemies", i.e. "citizens".)
Privatizing the Truth; Bush's war on information
--by Mike Whitney
A
great deal of print has
been wasted
on President Bush's inability to tell
the truth.
In
fact, it
really
makes
little difference whether Bush is a pathological liar or not.
Bush's
lying is not a matter of human frailty or corruption, but a statement
of administration policy.
''We're
an empire now, and when we act, we
create our own reality".
--- Bush
aide to Ron Suskind, NYTimes
Magazine 10-17-04
... deception is the primary tool
for the maintenance of the State. Transparency and candor
are now seen as direct threats to the preservation
of the status quo. This suggests that
Bush's lying is not simply a matter of human frailty or corruption, but
a clear statement of administration policy.
Good points but .... suggests ...
??? Mike Whitney is a great writer, but charitably turns to
conjecture about Bush, failing to
go all the way and explain that the people behind the
President openly state that
lying is their policy.
ROBERT
KAPLAN using weasel-words for a vision of Bush:
Well, first of all, realism has a specific
definition in foreign affairs. Here are a few parts of the
definition. Realism in foreign affairs assumes that domestic politics
operates within the confines of law. Foreign policy, though,
operates in a lawless realm. The kind of morality we apply
overseas in dealing with our adversaries is a more limited,
sadder morality than we apply at home. Realism also
means that all moral questions of human rights, democracy, etc. are
ultimately questions of power. Realism assumes that sometimes
you have to perpetrate a certain amount of evil in order to do a
greater amount of good.
These are all aspects of realism in foreign
affairs. I think the United States, right now, under President Bush, is what I would call
a classically realist foreign policy.
again:"Peace increases our
peril by
making discipline less urgent, encouraging some of our worst instincts,
in depriving us of some of our best leaders.' Peace
. . . is a dream . . . and would undermine the power of the
state."
According
to paleo-Conservatives and
Libertarians: peace, which
Ledeen fears
would undermine State
power, is a positive thing, because Limited Government is a TRADITIONAL
IDEAL and undermining big government is GOOD. Or it used to be.

Here is a
summarization of Ledeen's
flowery prose:
Powerful
dictatorships that make their leaders powerful need to
stage wars to
get ordinary people to march in lockstep like mindless Nazi robots.
That is the road to Greatness.
So
that's why we bombed and invaded Afghanistan
and Iraq with zero evidence and
zero investigation of
who actually attacked America.
NOT FOR ANY OF THE REASONS TOLD US,
but for GLORY, NOBILITY, and social control, on the basis that PEACE is an abnormal and rotten
state of being.
This was also literally
the philosophy of Hitler and Himmler and Goebbels, that peace
makes men weak and soft, so
leaders must launch wars of aggression to toughen up a society of men,
to push society in the direction of jingoistic patriotic war fever,
which leads people to accept sacrifice
and deprivation and ignore any issues of class and
poverty.

To
sum up, neocons: (1) want the US to be the world’s unchallenged
superpower; (2) share slavish and unwavering support for Israel and
have close ties with the Likud Party; (3) support Likud’s agenda to
retain Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel; (4) support
American unilateral action; (5) support preemptive strikes to remove
perceived threats to US security; (6) promote the development of an
American empire; (7) equate American power with the potential for world
peace; (8) seek to democratize the Arab world; (9) push regime change
in states deemed threats to the US or its allies; (10) want the US to
fight Israel’s proxy war to make the region safer for Israel.
Neocons
also agree with Trotsky on permanent revolution - violent
as well as intellectual. They venerate Leo Strauss. They are for
redrawing the map of the Middle East and are willing to use force to do
so. They accept the notion that the ends justify the means. They
express no opposition to the welfare state (for the wealthy). They
believe lying is necessary for the state to survive. They believe
pertinent facts about how a society should be run, i.e., by the elite
(who would whisper into the ears of the ruler). They endorse attacks on civil liberties,
such as those found in the Patriot Act, as being necessary. They
believe neutrality in foreign affairs is ill-advised.
Final Words:
Neocons are the most powerful, the most organized, and the best-funded
ideologues in the western world. They also run the most sought-after
reactionary think tanks and foundations. That is why they have been
able to occupy important positions since the Reagan days and continue
to play a significant role within the Bush (Jr.) Administration and the
Republican Party. (And they are backed by the CIA.
