Iraq to destabilize and undermine the Iraqi government that they
themselves have set up and, in fact, run? And that the existing
government is a ruse intended only to mislead the

It all boils down to
the question: Would the middle east be a more
hospitable place for Israel with Iraq divided? I cannot see how! I do
not see that the answer to this question at this time can be nothing
but
conjecture.

HERE's my response:
Israel specifically calls for a restructuring
of Iraq in the Clean Break document (below), not specifically a
breakup, but it calls for possible restoration of Hashemite (Jordanian
monarchy) rule. Part of the idea is to screw over Syria and take
Lebanon.
But then there's this: (excerpt)
Later, in a series of papers and a
book, Wurmser argued that toppling Saddam was likely to lead
directly to civil war and the breakup of Iraq, but he supported the policy anyway: “The residual unity of
[Iraq] is an illusion projected by the extreme repression of the state.”
David Wurmser is the
Middle East Adviser to US Vice President Dick Cheney.
Wurmser, a neo-conservative,
previously served as special assistant to John R. Bolton at the State Department and was a former
research fellow on the Middle East at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). He has been credited as being one of
the main authors of the 1996 Clean
Break report, a paper prepared for incoming Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin
Netanyahu.
Wurmser played a
leading role in the creation of a Pentagon intelligence unit that
sought to link the Iraqi regime with Al Qaeda in the months leading up
to the US invasion.
On September
4, 2004, the Washington Post
reported that FBI counterintelligence
investigators had questioned Wurmser, along with Harold Rhode, Paul Wolfowitz and Douglas
Feith about the passing
of classified information
to Ahmad
Chalabi and/or the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
In other
words, treason.
Wurmser obtained his Ph.D.
in international relations from Johns Hopkins University[3]. His wife,
Dr. Meyrav Wurmser, was
cofounder of the Middle East Media Research Institute. MEMRI,
set up to make all Arabs look like all
assholes, by selectively posting video of assholes
amongst Arabs.
Wurmser continued:
After Saddam, Iraq
will “be ripped apart by the politics of
warlords, tribes, clans, sects, and key families,” he wrote.
“Underneath facades of unity enforced by state repression, [Iraq’s]
politics is defined primarily by tribalism, sectarianism, and
gang/clan-like competition.” Yet Wurmser
explicitly urged the United States and Israel to “expedite” such a
collapse.
“The issue here is whether the West and
Israel can construct a strategy for limiting
and expediting the chaotic collapse that will ensue
in order to move on to the task of creating a better circumstance.”
Later, with former CIA director
James Woolsey and others, Wurmser proposed restoring the
Jordan-based Hashemite monarchy in Iraq. While Wurmser’s OVP allies may
share his neoconservative fantasies of the willy-nilly reorganization
of the Middle East, few experts do.
“I’ve known him for years, and I
consider him to be a naive simpleton,” says a former
U.S. ambassador. Adds Wilkerson, “A lot of these guys, including
Wurmser, I looked at as card-carrying
members of the Likud
party, as I did with Feith. You wouldn’t open their wallet and
find a card, but I often wondered if their primary allegiance
was to their own country or to Israel. That was the thing that
troubled me, because there was so much that they said and did that
looked like it was more reflective of Israel’s interest than our own.”

counter-insurgency operations in Iraq, including the use of
assassination squads against guerrilla leaders, US intelligence and
military sources said yesterday.
US forces in Iraq’s Sunni triangle have already begun to use
tactics that echo Israeli operations in the occupied territories,
sealing off centres of resistance with razor wire and razing buildings
from where attacks have been launched against US troops.
“This is basically an assassination programme. That is what is
being conceptualised here. This is a hunter-killer team,” said a former
senior US intelligence official, who added that he feared the new
tactics and enhanced cooperation with Israel would only inflame a
volatile situation in the Middle East.
“It is bonkers, insane. Here we are - we’re already being compared to
Sharon in the Arab world, and we’ve just confirmed it by bringing in
the Israelis and setting up assassination teams.”

It is now obvious to everyone that the only reason America
attacked Iraq was to break it up into three countries. The US and the
whole World knew back then, before the war on Iraq started, that an Iraqi
civil war was the only result to be expected. Well, that is
exactly what was needed to breakup the country. Now the country is in
the middle of, and being encouraged by many powers, a civil war
until the end. Knowingly or not, the American military
establishment was able to meet Israel's objective. The job is
done - it's well done. As a matter of fact, most of the Zionists
have left George Bush to deal with the problem alone.

and the troublesome border with Lebanon:
"Syria challenges Israel on Lebanese soil. An effective
approach, and one with which American can sympathize, would be if
Israel seized the strategic initiative along its northern borders by
engaging Hizballah, Syria, and Iran, as the principal agents of
aggression in Lebanon."
But this could occur only if Iraq was taken out first:

with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back
Syria. This effort can focus on removing Saddam Hussein from power in
