INTRODUCTION

In 1971 Henry John=20 Deutschendorf, Jr. , aka John Denver, wife Annie moved to the = gilt-edged=20 Starwood section of Aspen, Colorado. While camping out at an 11,000 = foot=20 high lake Denver and some friends witnessed a spectacular shower of=20 meteorites transfixed by the sidereal extravaganza for over two = hours. After=20 the "star" show and the accompanying "new birth" which Denver claims = he had,=20 Denver wrote the popular experience song "Rocky Mountain High." = Denver has=20 told reporters that now he can pinpoint the place he came from "near = the=20 ring nebula in Lyra." Denver is convinced he is among those called = Starseed=20 by UFO believer, Brad Steiger. "He is here to save the earthbound = masses=20 from the wrath to come." Denver has not convinced everyone in his = beloved=20 state of Colorado that he is the "Messiah." Some Coloradans have = dubbed=20 Denver as "Ecotwerp" or "Aspen's Singing Turkey."

In 1976 Denver, freshly = graduated from=20 Jack Rosenberg's, aka Werner Erhard, EST new age conversion = brainwashing=20 system, actually a form of subjection to demonic possession. Denver, = with=20 the help of Rosenberg and a few other new age money bags, purchased = 1,000=20 acres of prime mountain countryside near Snowmass, Colorado where he = planted=20 a new age commune and indoctrination center he calls Windstar. = Denver's=20 bodyguard and co-graduate EST victim, Thomas Crum, has added a = decidedly=20 Eastern flavor to Windstar with the introduction of the Eastern = martial art=20 known as Aikido which is more than just a martial art; it is "the = road to a=20 union with the universal spirit." Crum has reached the level of Guru = Number=20 II at Windstar, second in command only to Denver. The huge Aikido = tent=20 structure under which Crum works his Eastern spells is an imposing = sight on=20 the Windstar compound.

Denver, while = sleeping/meditating under=20 his nine foot portable pyramid made of copper poles, was shown by = "the=20 power" that he would some day become President of the United States. = Mrs.=20 Deutschendorf, John's mother, has had the same dream. The fertile = farm=20 plains on the northwest corner of the suburbs of Wichita, Kansas are = the=20 site of a sister structure, an architectural carrier of the master = spirit of=20 the New Age, a large white, stationary pyramid, situated just = outside a=20 circle of eight glistening white "pyradome," geodesic domes. = Buckminister=20 Fuller, the inventor of the geodesic dome is (was) coincidentally on = the=20 board of directors of Windstar. The geodesic "pyradomes" are = situated with=20 seven domes in a circle surrounding the eighth dome in the center of = the=20 circle forming one of the basic New Age symbols, the 'hadit" and the = "nuit,"=20 or the dot within the circle, a basic, timeless pagan/heathen = religious=20 symbol Babylonians, Egyptians, Roman Catholics, Buddhists, of the = ancient=20 Theosophists, arts, ancient wisdoms, and other occult=20 traditions.

The shining white pyramid = in the=20 picture here is located on ninety acres known as The Center for the = Improvement=20 of Human Functioning International, Inc., 1. Or more simply as = "The=20 Center," or more revealingly as "The Garvey Center" after Willard = Garvey,=20 president chief director, executive officer of National Center = Garvey=20 Industries, Inc.; founding director, National Center for = Privatization,=20 International Executive Service Corps, National Legal Center = Interest for=20 the Public Interest, ad infinitum..., of Wichita.

When the Wichitans asked = Garvey why the=20 pyramid, the Garvey Center published the following:

THE CENTER=20 PYRAMID
"A number of = people have=20 asked us why we decided to include a Garvey Center for the = Improvement of=20 Human Functioning, Inc. There were a number of reasons behind this = decision and we would like to share these with=20 you.
"Structurally, of = course,=20 the pyramid is extremely strong and should be able to = withstand--as should=20 the geodesic domes--almost any environmental=20 situation.
"A principal = consideration=20 was of an electromagnetic nature. We live in a sea of energy. All = of life,=20 from subatomic particles to the galaxies, can be seen as = electrostatic and=20 electrodynamic fields. Close examination of life forms, including = our own,=20 reveals that rather than existing as solid state matter these = forms are=20 more accurately waves of energy interacting with one=20 another.
"It is known that = the shape=20 or form of a container affects the nature and quality of the = energy force=20 fields within. This is apparent with sound and light and equally=20 so--though perhaps less apparent--with other portions of the=20 electromagnetic spectrum.
"Experiments in = recent years=20 have demonstrated that the pyramid shape is particularly conducive = to=20 integrating and amplifying these energy fields. Significant = results have=20 been established with liquids, solids, plant growth and = productivity,=20 along with beneficial results with animal and human health. These = results=20 are not entirely isolated phenomena as a number of scientific = researchers=20 have demonstrated the response of animate and inanimate matter to = various=20 electrical and magnetic force fields. The uniqueness of the = pyramid,=20 however, apparently resides in its ability to provide a richness = of these=20 fields.
"Since ancient = times, the=20 pyramid has stood as a universal symbol to the four cardinal = points of the=20 earth, representing all things of the earth, and the four material = elements or substances from the combinations of which the = quaternary body=20 of man is formed. From each side of the pyramid there rises a = triangle,=20 typifying the threefold divine nature of Man. The pyramid reaches = a point=20 apex depicting the Oneness of = life.
"The founding = fathers of=20 this country incorporated a pyramid on the reverse side of the Great Seal of the = United=20 States 2. When it was adopted by act of the Continental = Congress on=20 June 20, 1782, and readopted by the new Congress on September 15, = 1789.=20 This seal continues to be printed on our one dollar=20 bills.
"The thirteen = tiers of the=20 pyramid on the seal represent thirteen original colonies. Man can=20 construct this part of the pyramid, whereas the capstone -- = elevated on=20 the seal -- can be only provided by God. The eye in the capstone = signifies=20 God's wisdom and attentiveness to the affairs of=20 man.
"A pyramid seems = to be=20 particularly appropriate for The Center, dedicated to the health = and=20 well-being of the body, mind and spirit of = man."
Thus reads the Garvey Center = explanation for the=20 pyramidal structure on its grounds. We have been told that the = pyramid=20 contains nothing but an altar and a light which plays on the altar = and=20 further that the altar has been used in rites and rituals best left=20 undescribed. Some have hinted that the Garvey Pyramid is the = location of=20 blood sacrifices but this, so far, is mere unproven gossip. In 1979, = New=20 Ager Jeremy Rifkin copyrighted a book of giant significance to those = who can=20 read between the lines. The book was titled The Emerging = Order.

In his run for the = Presidential=20 Nomination of 1988, Christian New Age Change Agent, Pat Robertson = gave both=20 Rifkin and his book, The Emerging Order, a great deal of = television=20 exposure on Robertson's 700 Club television program. It has been = said with=20 great discernment that the life purpose of Rifkin and the sole = intent of The=20 Emerging Order was to channel the entire United States spectrum of = the=20 "Evangelical" population into the New Age Movement. Rifkin, however, = proved=20 to be much too blatantly associated with the vociferous element of = the New=20 Age Movement which openly advocated the element of "cleansing the = New Age=20 Movement action" of the earth, the physical extermination of all=20 fundamentalist Christians, Jews and Moslems and anyone else who = dissented=20 from United States/United Nations/New World Order = policies.

With Rifkin being too = radical to be=20 used to charm "evangelicals" into the NAM, it would seem from the = evidence=20 presented herein that Willard Garvey was given by the Masters of the = New Age=20 the job of charming, beguiling the lesser Fundamentalists, the = greater=20 Evangelicals of so-called Christian America into not only accepting = but also=20 promoting and vigorously and wholeheartedly working for the = establishment of=20 a New Age/New World Order. . . =

If there is one thing = Fundamentalists=20 and Evangelicals trust it is money. They may not have any, but they = trust=20 and give their allegiance to those who have it. They ignorantly call = this=20 "conservatism." Conservatism is the Baal of Fundamentalists and=20 Evangelicals. Not long ago Thomas Crum from John Denver's New Age = Windstar=20 compound appeared in Wichita for an evening before the Chamber of = Commerce.=20 Before the night was over the entire Chamber of Commerce had been=20 indoctrinated into Crum's occult manipulation of Aiki. They were = "centered"=20 and "grounded" and empowered to go out and work for the demons of = the New=20 Age. The channel from Windstar to Wichita is established and it = flows and=20 finds harmonic convergence at the Garvey Center -- a vortex for the = New Age=20 Spirits of Anti-Christ. 3. =

THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR PRIVATIZATION

 

In 1983, Willard Garvey and other Wichita, Kansas = businessmen founded=20 the National Center for Privatization [NCP]. Its 1986 Board of = Directors=20 included Willard Garvey and Robert D. = Love, a=20 founding member of National Council of The John Birch = Society who,=20 according to a JBS publication cited by The Belmont = Brotherhood, was=20 "a Thirty-second Degree KCCH Mason, a member of the Median Shrine."=20 4.

The purpose of the National = Center for=20 Privatization was "to educate Americans about the then-new concept of=20 'Privatization'", which meant relieving the government of services = which=20 Garvey and his partners felt could be performed more efficiently and=20 effectively within the private sector. Ostensibly, the objective was = to=20 eliminate government waste, reduce taxes, and government control of = the U.S.=20 citizenry.

"Therefore, the = foremost=20 objective of the National Center for privatization is to encourage = by all=20 practical and legal means, the transfer of activities and = responsibilities=20 now being funded with coerced tax dollars, to the private profit and = voluntary sector of the economy." 5.
Although privatization masquerades as = relief for=20 the overburdened taxpayer, a different picture emerges in real life = scenarios=20 where private enterprise and government have collaborated to profit at = taxpayer expense. A practical illustration of how private enterprise = often=20 works involved Willard Garvey's profiteering at the expense of the = taxpayer.=20 Waste = of the=20 West: Public Lands Ranching discloses that "ranchers, government = and=20 private entities have been working together for decades to convert our = public=20 land into profitable livestock ranches." 6. In 1934, private interests = pushed=20 through Congress the Taylor Grazing Act which created the Division of = Grazing=20 under the Department of the Interior. This legislation resulted in the = establishment of federal, state and local "grazing advisory boards" = staffed by=20 the same wealthy ranchers who lobbied Congress for their = creation:
"All these = 'advisory' boards=20 were composed mostly of the same large-scale, aggressive, = politically savvy=20 ranchers who helped create the Forest Service and Taylor Grazing Act = and=20 awarded themselves federal grazing permits (or else stockmen who = followed in=20 their place). Most members were also livestock association = officials, and=20 many were bankers, real estate dealers, lawyers, timber barons, = merchants,=20 and mining tycoons. Congress enacted regulations, created grazing=20 allotments, and charged a nominal 5 cent grazing fee. Leases were = issued to=20 the privileged few, generally the most wealthy and powerful = cattlemen,=20 especially those who helped create the Taylor Grazing Act, often = those who=20 had illegally fenced off public land. . .
"In 1939, under = close=20 supervision of the grazing industry, the Division of Grazing was = reorganized=20 into the Grazing Service. . .They went out and radically turned it = over to=20 the big cowmen and the big sheepmen of the West Why they even put = them on=20 the payroll. . . It is common knowledge that they have been = practically=20 running the Grazing Service. . . Seven years later, in 1946, again = under the=20 influence of powerful stockmen, the Grazing Service and General Land = Office=20 were combined to form the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). . ."=20 7.
Chapter 7 = titled Welfare = Ranching=20 describes Willard Garvey's illegal use of tax-funded public lands -- = with a=20 little help from fellow rancher, Ronald Reagan, who also happened to = be=20 President of the United States: =
"In 1984 appraisers = for both=20 the BLM and Forest Service uncovered more than 2000 secret = subleasing deals=20 providing the original holder of the grazing permit 'the opportunity = to=20 profit at the expense of the Treasury' (Com. on Govt. Oper. 1986). A = recent=20 study by Colorado State University researchers found more than 900 = cattle=20 permittees were subleasing 'their' BLM allotments. Considering there = are=20 only about 19,000 BLM permittees altogether, 900 (almost 5% of the = total)=20 seems to indicate a serious problem. And one further wonders how = many=20 subleasers were not revealed.
"These 900 were = subleasing at=20 an average rate of $7.76/AUM -- more than 5 times the then-current = $1.35/AUM=20 grazing fee charged by the federal government. Most of the = difference went=20 into ranchers' pockets. For example, according to the 5-11-87 Reno=20 Gazette-Journal, multimillionaire Willard Garvey collected $120,000 = rent in=20 1986 from a Humboldt County, Nevada rancher, while the government = received=20 only $14,587 in grazing fees for that public = land.
"In 1985. . .in a = slick move=20 that infuriated many reform advocates, rancher Ronald Reagan rode to = the=20 rescue and (while vacationing at his California ranch) promulgated = an=20 executive order directing the Secretaries of Agriculture and = Interior (at=20 their advisal) to permanently adopt the PRIA fee formula. [Public = Rangelands=20 Improvement Act created by the public lands ranching establishment = to assure=20 low grazing fees] Both Secretaries promptly did so, with a new = provision=20 that established a floor of $1.35/AUM. Consequently, the federal = grazing fee=20 remained $1.35/AUM through 1987." 8.
In 1984, between the establishment of the National Center = for=20 Privatization and President Reagan's executive order to permanently = establish=20 low fees for public land grazing, Willard Garvey wrote a letter to the = President which disclosed the real objective of the National Center = for=20 Privatization -- to wit, that non-profit organizations and the private = sector=20 might render the cumbersome machinery of representative government=20 obsolete!

Garvey's letter [see below] = was published=20 in a media promotion for an International Conference On Family=20 Choice/Educational Vouchers that was sponsored by the NCP on Sept. = 30-Oct. 2=20 of 1985. Speakers for the "Privatizing Education" conference were = members of=20 the secretive and elitist Council for National Policy -- namely James = Dobson,=20 Tim LaHaye and Phyllis Schlafly, and also free market economist, = Milton=20 Friedman and Secretary of Education, William Bennett. The NCP brochure = promoted the conference as being "Where the Future = Begins."

Privatization = might well=20 be the theme for the 200th anniversary of the Constitution.=20 Privatization is essential for national = salvation.

Officially, the National = Center for=20 Privatization relocated to McLean, VA in 1991 and was incorporated in = the=20 District of Columbia. It has since become the Council for Government = Reform=20 of Arlington, VA. A companion organization, "Center for Government = Reform"=20 functions as a non-profit. 9. The NCP brochure which accompanied = Garvey's=20 letter to President Reagan states that the National Office of the NCP = was in=20 Wichita, Kansas. However, the promotional material indicates that, as = of April=20 1984, the NCP Executive Secretary actually resided in Falls Church, VA = --=20 which is just outside the nation's capital.=20

Serving as a National = Advisory Committee=20 Member for Garvey's international conference on privatizing education = was the=20 late J. = Peter=20 Grace, who was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations [CFR], = an=20 officer of the Council for National Policy [CNP] and President of the = American=20 Chapter of the Board of Founders of the Knights of Malta = [SMOM].

Willard Garvey's letter to = the President=20 included a brochure of The=20 Heritage Foundation, the New Right think tank founded by CNP = member, Paul = Weyrich.=20 During the Reagan Administration, the Heritage Foundation was = delegated a=20 powerful role of oversight of government policies and was close to a = shadow=20 government. Heritage has spawned a vast network of other right wing,=20 tax-exempt organizations that are working toward the end of = privatization of=20 government services. Willard Garvey's selection of speakers for the=20 "privatization of education" conference represented an alliance which = was=20 already well-established.

To expedite the process of = eliminating=20 government by representation, the National Center for Privatization = has=20 recruited people from right-wing think tanks from among the many such=20 non-profit organizations represented in the Council for National = Policy: The Reason Foundation [Robert W. = Poole], Citizens for a Sound Economy, the National Center for = Policy=20 Analysis [Pierre duPont], Advocates for Self-Government, Competitive Enterprise = Institute=20 [Jack Kemp, Distinguished Fellow], and the Cato=20 Institute.

In 1992, Reason Foundation, = headed by=20 Robert W. Poole, a member of the CNP until 1998, established the Privatization Center, which = "provides=20 how-to-guides, case studies, and reports that are designed to inform = elected=20 officials on how to streamline government." Republican congressman, Jack Kemp, is a 33=BA Mason and long = term CNP=20 member. Kemp also co-directs Empower America with William Bennett and = Jeanne=20 Kirkpatrick [CFR]. The President and CEO of Empower America is Josette = Shiner,=20 a high-ranking Unification Church member and former editor at the = Moon-owned=20 Washington Times. Kemp recently addressed scholars of the Cato = Institute on=20 the topic of privatizing Social Security -- Solving the Global = Public=20 Pensions Crisis II: The Privatization Revolution -- ". . .imagine = America=20 not just as a constitutional republic, but as a vibrant shareholder = democracy=20 where everyone not only has a vote but also owns property." 11. =20 Congressman Kemp assumes that private enterprise will provide = equitable=20 pensions for retired persons once they control Social = Security.

THE MONT PELERIN=20 SOCIETY

 

Milton Friedman is a Nobel Laureate in Economic Science = [1976] and has=20 for many years been a member of the Mont=20 Pelerin Society, founded in 1947 in Mont Pelerin, Switzerland by = Frederich=20 von Hayek. 12. The stated objective of the Mont Pelerin Society is to=20 strengthen the principles and practices of the free society by = encouraging=20 market-oriented economic systems with minimal and dispersed government = as=20 opposed to government regulation of industry. Milton Friedman was = president of=20 the Mont Pelerin Society from 1970-1972. Edwin Feulner, president of = the=20 Heritage Foundation, was president of the Mont Pelerin Society from = 1996-1998=20 and is currently the Senior Vice President.=20

The American membership of = the MPS has=20 included, besides Milton and Rose Friedman and the late journalist = Walter=20 Lippmann [CFR], influential conservatives affiliated with the Heritage = Foundation: Michael Novak [CFR/American Enterprise Institute], Thomas = Sowell=20 [Hoover Institution] and Deepak Lal [Cato Institute]. Anther member of = the=20 Mont Pelerin Society is former CNP member Dr. John A.=20 Howard, president of The Rockford Institute, Senior Fellow of the = Howard=20 Center for Family, Religion & Society and a member of The Bohemian = Club --=20 a coven of high-powered elites whose retreats in the mysterious = Bohemian Grove=20 near San Francisco are reported to involve Druidic = rituals.13.

Friedrich=20 Von Hayek is considered by = libertarians to be=20 the greatest social scientist of the twentieth century, an economist = whose=20 theories on free-market economics have supplanted John Maynard Keynes. = Free=20 market advocates claim that Keynes' theories of government regulation = of the=20 economy have been gradually discredited and Hayek's model of = "Spontaneous=20 Order" accepted which contends that "social order, and thus social = capital,=20 can emerge in spontaneous and decentralized fashion." Milton Friedman, = who was=20 profoundly influenced by Von Hayek, is the leader of what is called = "The=20 Chicago Boys" School of Economics. Promulgating Hayak's monetarist = theories=20 from the seat of Rockefeller power, the University of Chicago, = Friedman had=20 Chile declared a dictatorship in the mid-1970s in order to privatize = the=20 economy.

"Starting from a = tiny embryo=20 at the University of Chicago with the philosopher-economist = Friedrich von=20 Hayek and his students like Milton Friedman at its nucleus, the = neoliberals=20 and their funders have created a huge international network of = foundations,=20 institutes, research centers, publications, scholars, writers and = public=20 relations hacks to develop, package and push their ideas and = doctrine=20 relentlessly. . .They have spent hundreds of millions of dollars, = but the=20 result has been worth every penny to them because they have made=20 neoliberalism seem as if it were the natural and normal condition of = humankind. . ." 14.
According to the Mont Pelerin Society, "liberal" in the = European sense=20 means "broadly epitomized by a preference for minimal and dispersed=20 government, rather than in its current American sense which indicates = the=20 opposite preference for an extension and concentration of governmental = powers." In theory, diminishing the expansive power of government is=20 appealing. However, the wisdom of deregulating the transnational = corporations,=20 thereby permitting them to amass sufficient economic power to cripple = whole=20 nations, has been discredited since the Asian crisis:
"The devastating = social and=20 economic impact of the global financial crisis triggered in East = Asia in=20 mid-1997 has led a growing number of civil society actors, UN bodies = and=20 governments to explore strategies to regain control over global = finance,=20 which many describe as a cause of increasing systemic instability = and social=20 regress. . .Many debates in this area have focused on critiquing the = neoliberal rationale for unfettered financial liberalization as part = of the=20 conventional policy package ascribed to the so-called 'Washington=20 consensus,' which has been thrown into question in the aftermath of = the East=20 Asian crisis". 15.
The=20 stated purpose of the classical liberal academic, business and = governmental=20 leaders who comprise the Mont Pelerin Society is to prevent world = domination=20 by communist, fascist and socialist regimes. However, the fruit of = this elite=20 society of has been generally of the same variety.

Roger Pearson, a British race = scientist,=20 united the ex-Nazis and Nazi sympathizers of the Europe in the World=20 Anti-Communist League. In 1975, Pearson organized the North American=20 neo-fascists into an American branch of the WACL called Council on = American=20 Affairs. The Council sponsored seminars and published monographs with = such=20 influential persons as Ed Feulner of Heritage, Ray Cline, former = C.I.A. deputy=20 director, and others who would later become high officials of the = Reagan=20 Administration. With the support of New Right leadership, Pearson = became well=20 integrated within the conservative network. His influence in the U.S. = was=20 demonstrable by his oversight of an organization that included Dr. = Milton=20 Friedman, whose free market theories were applied in Chile under the = fascist=20 dictator, Pinochet.

"Pearson was elected = to head=20 University Professors for Academic Order (UPAO), a group that = includes many=20 members of the Heritage Foundation, the Reagan Administration and = the Mont=20 Pelerin Society. [f-228] The latter is a group of about 500=20 ultraconservatives whose best known economists, Milton Friedman and=20 Friedrich von Hayek, were architects of the economy of Pinochet's = Chile.=20 Both advocated a form of dictatorship as part of the economic plan. = Heritage=20 Foundation president Edwin Feulner is treasurer of the Society."=20 16.
PRIVATIZING LATIN = AMERICA

It is common knowledge that = the massive=20 destabilization of the democratically-elected Chilean government and=20 assassination of President Salvadore Allende was carried out by the = CIA, hired=20 by a corporate mafia which planned to install a nationalist government = more=20 lenient toward private enterprise. President Nixon and National = Security=20 Adviser Henry Kissinger allocated $8 million for the campaign to = destabilize=20 Allende. Kissinger told the CIA that Washington's "firm and continuing = policy"=20 was for Allende to be overthrown by the US-trained Chilean military. = In 1975,=20 CIA director Richard Helms admitted his agency's involvement. When the = coup=20 finally came in September 1973, U.S. warships appeared off the coast = of Chile=20 and American intelligence officers kept in touch with Pinochet and = other=20 military leaders. In subsequent years, an estimated 50,000 Chileans = died at=20 the hands of Pinochet's dictatorship, which was protected throughout = by=20 Washington.

In 1999, a journalist who had = written=20 exposes of Richard Scaife was by all appearances murdered in the = Oxford Centre=20 of Pittsburgh, PA -- the office complex of the foundation of his = subject --=20 Scaife. Richard Mellon Scaife is the heir of the Mellon fortune and a = major=20 funder of the Heritage Foundation and other right wing organizations,=20 although, like the Coors family, Scaife also funds abortion and gay = rights=20 organizations. Shortly before his death in February 1999, Kangas = catalogued=20 the gruesome accomplishments of the CIA and issued a scathing = indictment of=20 their paymasters -- the very elites who created the CNP! The following = portion=20 of Kangas' Origins of = the=20 Overclass deals with CIA "success stories" around the = world:

"The wealthy have = always used=20 many methods to accumulate wealth, but it was not until the = mid-1970s that=20 these methods coalesced into a superbly organized, cohesive and = efficient=20 machine. After 1975, it became greater than the sum of its parts, a = smooth=20 flowing organization of advocacy groups, lobbyists, think tanks,=20 conservative foundations, and PR firms that hurtled the richest 1 = percent=20 into the stratosphere.
"The origins of this = machine,=20 interestingly enough, can be traced back to the CIA. This is not to = say the=20 machine is a formal CIA operation, complete with code name and = signed=20 documents. (Although such evidence may yet surface -- and previously = unthinkable domestic operations such as MK-ULTRA, CHAOS and = MOCKINGBIRD show=20 this to be a distinct possibility.) But what we do know already = indicts the=20 CIA strongly enough. Its principle creators were Irving Kristol, = Paul=20 Weyrich, William Simon, Richard Mellon Scaife, Frank Shakespeare, = William F.=20 Buckley, Jr., the Rockefeller family, and more. Almost all the = machine's=20 creators had CIA backgrounds. . .
The Business Origins = of CIA=20 Crimes
"Although many = people think=20 that the CIA=92s primary mission during the Cold War was to 'deter = communism,'=20 Noam Chomksy correctly points out that its real mission was = 'deterring=20 democracy.' From corrupting elections to overthrowing democratic=20 governments, from assassinating elected leaders to installing = murderous=20 dictators, the CIA has virtually always replaced democracy with=20 dictatorship. It didn't help that the CIA was run by businessmen, = whose=20 hostility towards democracy is legendary. The reason they overthrew = so many=20 democracies is because the people usually voted for policies that=20 multi-national corporations didn't like: land reform, strong labor = unions,=20 nationalization of their industries, and greater regulation = protecting=20 workers, consumers and the environment.
"So the CIA=92s = greatest=20 'successes' were usually more pro-corporate than anti-communist. = Citing a=20 communist threat, the CIA helped overthrow the democratically = elected=20 Mohammed Mussadegh government in Iran in 1953. But there was no = communist=20 threat -- the Soviets stood back and watched the coup from = afar. What=20 really happened was that Mussadegh threatened to nationalize British = and=20 American oil companies in Iran. Consequently, the CIA and MI6 = toppled=20 Mussadegh and replaced him with a puppet government, headed by the = Shah of=20 Iran and his murderous secret police, SAVAK. The reason why the = Ayatollah=20 Khomeini and his revolutionaries took 52 Americans hostage in Tehran = in 1979=20 was because the CIA had helped SAVAK torture and murder their=20 people.
"Another 'success' = was the=20 CIA=92s overthrow of the democratically elected government of Jacabo = Arbenz in=20 Guatemala in 1954. Again, there was no communist threat. The real = threat was=20 to Guatemala=92s United Fruit Company, a Rockefeller-owned firm = whose=20 stockholders included CIA Director Allen Dulles. Arbenz threatened = to=20 nationalize the company, albeit with generous compensation. In = response, the=20 CIA initiated a coup that overthrew Arbenz and installed the = murderous=20 dictator Castillo Armas. For four decades, CIA-backed dictators = would=20 torture and murder hundreds of thousands of leftists, union members = and=20 others who would fight for a more equitable distribution of the = country=92s=20 resources.
"Another 'success' = story was=20 Chile. In 1973, the country's democratically elected leader, = Salvadore=20 Allende, nationalized foreign-owned interests, like Chile=92s = lucrative copper=20 mines and telephone system. International Telephone & Telegraph = (ITT)=20 offered the CIA $1 million to overthrow Allende -- which the CIA = allegedly=20 refused -- but paid $350,000 to his political opponents. The CIA = responded=20 with a coup that murdered Allende and replaced him with a brutal = tyrant,=20 General Augusto Pinochet. Pinochet tortured and murdered thousands = of=20 leftists, union members and political opponents as economists = trained at the=20 University of Chicago under Milton Friedman installed a 'free = market'=20 economy. Since then, income inequality has soared higher in Chile = than=20 anywhere else in Latin America." 17.
Another case of New Right leaders = using their=20 influence to support Latin American dictators was the promotion by Pat = Robertson [CNP Pres. 1985-6] and Jerry Falwell of General Efrain Rios = Montt,=20 who became president of Guatemala after a bloody coup in 1982. Rios = Montt, a=20 convert of Gospel Outreach Verbo Ministries [which originated in the = Jesus Movement, a = CIA=20 operation] expected to turn the Verbo Churches into a new political = movement=20 which would "moralize national life from the top down."
"Gospel Outreach is = an=20 evangelical Pentecostal church with headquarters in Eureka, = California and=20 Guatemala. It grew out of the 'Jesus People' movement of the 1960s = in the=20 United States. . .After the 1976 earthquake, 28 Gospel Outreach = evangelicals=20 from California arrived in Guatemala to help rebuild the country and = establish El Verbo church. . .An early convert was General Efrain = Rios=20 Montt, who became president after a military coup in March=20 1982.
"According to the = Latin=20 American Institute of Transnational Studies, 'Within the first nine = months=20 of Rios Montt's administration, 12 evangelical pastors were = assassinated; 69=20 were kidnapped; 45 disappeared; 5 were jailed; 11 foreign = missionaries were=20 expelled; 88 evangelical temples were destroyed; and 50 more were = occupied=20 by the Army." By 1986, Verbo Ministries reported 250 congregations. = Verbo=20 Ministries also runs a Leadership Training School with over 1000 = members=20 directed by Rios Montt himself.
"Rios Montt has been = supported=20 by Pat Robertson (Christian Broadcasting Network), Jerry Falwell = (Moral=20 Majority, Thomas Road Baptist Church, Liberty Federation), and Loren = Cunningham (Youth with a Mission). . .Jimmy Swaggart Ministries has = provided=20 financial support for the schools of El Verbo in Guatemala. This is = done=20 under the "Programa Ayuda Infantile," a branch of the Swaggart = ministry."=20 18.
The Covert Action Information = Bulletin=20 implicates another elitist organization in the bloody coup of the = Allende=20 government: the Brazil-based Tradition, Family and Property founded by = one=20 Plinio Corr=EAa de Oliviera. "In Chile and other Latin American = countries, the=20 CIA helped finance the right-wing Tradition,=20 Family and Property which played a role in the overthrow of both = Allende=20 in Chile and Goulart in Brazil. In many instances it pitted one sector = of the=20 Church against another." 19. =

Tradition, Family and = Property has close=20 ties with Heritage founder, Paul = Weyrich and=20 Morton Blackwell of the Leadership Institute, who are members of = the CNP.=20 20. Weyrich and Blackwell endorsed a 1993 book by Plinio Corr=EAa de = Oliviera,=20 on the necessity of restoring traditional nobility and elites to rule = the=20 world. Writing the Forward of Nobility & Analogous Traditional=20 Elites, Morton Blackwell opined: "One does not have to accept = Papal=20 infallibility to appreciate a case persuasively made, using = theological,=20 moral, and prudential arguments. This book will convince many readers, = whatever their faith, that good elites are legitimate, desirable and, = yes,=20 necessary." 21.

Paul Weyrich's endorsement = appears on the=20 dust jacket: "Sadly, most American elites are now devoted to = self-interest,=20 not to service, which is one reason why affairs here go so badly. Your = book=20 may help reawaken people to the realization that we need and can have = an elite=20 devoted to service." 22.

In 1997, Tradition, Family = and Property=20 sponsored the Conservative Leadership Conference together with CNP=20 affiliates/Moon fronts Christian Voice [Gary = Jarmin] and=20 Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms [Alan = Gottleib] and=20 also Citizens Against Government Waste, which was founded by American = Knights=20 of Malta President, J. Peter=20 Grace.

If Latin America is any = indicator of the=20 corporate largesse toward the working classes, U.S. citizens will be = in worse=20 bondage than before privatization. Chile's revolution subjected the = masses to=20 a shock-induced depression in 1975 that was not remedied until 1986 by = an IMF=20 bailout which cost the taxpayers 3% of Chile's GNP for three years. = Milton=20 Friedman called this "an economic miracle".=20

"This follows the = usual=20 pattern of 'free market capitalism -- market discipline for the = working=20 class, state aid for the elite. During the 'miracle,' the economic = gains had=20 been privatised; during the crash the burden for repayment was = socialised...=20 It is the increased wealth of the elite that we see the true = 'miracle' of=20 Chile. According to one expert in the Latin American neo-liberal=20 revolutions, the elite 'had become massively wealthy under=20 Pinochet'and when the leader of the Christian Democratic Party = returned=20 from exile in 1989 he said that economic growth that benefited the = top 10=20 per cent of the population had been achieved (Pinochet's official=20 institutions agreed)." 23.
President of Gun Owners of America, Larry Pratt [CNP] also = was=20 Secretary of the Council for Inter-American Security [CIS], which was = founded=20 in 1976. Pratt "served both as an intelligence conduit from 'private' = sources=20 such as the American Security Council and CAUSA, and as an informal = employment=20 agency which provided analysts to the Reagan administration at the = inception=20 of Washington's murderous counter-insurgency wars in Central America." = In=20 1980, CIS published the influential A New Inter-American Policy for = the=20 Eighties, also known as the "Santa Fe Document." 24.

The Santa Fe Document, which = was a sequel=20 to The Rockefeller Report, was originally titled "Inter-American = Relations,=20 Shield of the New Order and Sword of the U.S. Ascent to World Power." = This=20 document set forth plans to create religious sects on a worldwide = scale, whose=20 mission was to corrupt the collective conscience of Christians to = willingly=20 accept the Rockefeller agenda. A portion of a book, La Mafia Sects = (The Sect=20 Mafia) by Burn Fouchereau, describes the planned use of Evangelical=20 organizations, such as Rios Montt's Church of the Word, as fronts for = the CIA=20 to "take charge of the initiative of ideological struggle" in Latin = America=20 through religious phenomena, i.e., psychological warfare operations = for=20 inculcating Anglo-Saxon ideology: =

La Mafia Sects (The = Sect=20 Mafia)

The Sects, Powerful Tool of the = Secret=20 Services
"In the category,=20 'Manipulation of mystical groups and sects', the highest award can = be given=20 to the famous American intelligence agency. . . In May 1980, a group = of=20 bigwigs in the Republican party signed a confidential document, one = destined=20 to guide U.S. foreign policy, and more specifically, that of the CIA = and of=20 NSA. (2) This document was titled, 'Inter-American Relations, Shield = of the=20 New Order and Sword of the U.S. Ascent to World Power." Although = this=20 document set forth strategic proposals, whose objectives are made = readily=20 clear in the title, it nevertheless remained secret, and in the = intelligence=20 community was nicknamed, the 'Santa F=E9 Report.' Beginning with the = Reagan=20 administration, and then Bush=92s, and on to the cohabitation of the = Republicans with Bill Clinton, this project became operational and = its=20 application is ongoing. It is really just the continuation of a = political=20 strategy hatched by the U.S.A. in the 1950s, in turn guided by a = document=20 titled 'The Rockefeller Report.' The latter states: 'In order to win = the=20 battle for hegemony (control) over conscience, it is necessary to = begin by=20 exposing Latin America to the influence of the fundamental values of = the=20 American way of life, doing so through controlling the traditional = apparatus=20 of socialization of civil society: the Family, the School, and the=20 Church.'
"The Santa Fe Report = went=20 further down this road, clearly defining that one of the vectors for = the=20 expansion of U.S. power worldwide would be the activities of the = sects. The=20 document concretely explained how necessary it was for the U.S.A. to = take=20 charge of the initiative of ideological struggle through religious=20 phenomena, the goal of which was to win control over conscience. The = recent=20 development of the sects would be one of the elements of this = strategy. On=20 the same subject, the Santa Fe Report notes the work already done in = this=20 area: '=85 [T]he experience acquired in Vietnam, thanks to the work = done in=20 population control, was exported to Latin America, and particularly = to=20 Guatemala, by numerous agents of A.I.D., and of other U.S. services. = Certain=20 sects were created by psychological warfare specialists and = entrusted with=20 control of the political forum and control of conscience.' ---George = Orwell=20 could never have imagined anything more effective than=20 this!
"In France, the = reigning and=20 undisputed specialist on this subject is Professor J=E9sus = Garcia-Ruiz, of the=20 Dept. of Ethnology and Anthropology at the University of Paris=85In = order to=20 confirm this incredible American policy of manipulation of the = masses of the=20 world, of which the Latin Americans seem to be the model, he cites = two other=20 sources. First, the Popular Evangelical Mission of France, which, in = a text=20 titled, La Notion relative aux sects en Amerique Latine, wrote: = 'They [the=20 sects] are all made in the U.S.A. and are financed from the outside; = they=20 are the vehicles for inculcating an Anglo-Saxon cultural ideology, = leading=20 to adopting an American middle class model=85' The second source is = a report=20 by the Minister of the Interior of Mexico, which explains: 'The = sects carry=20 out the most subtle part of the process of domination and of=20 north-Americanization of underdeveloped societies, through their = religious=20 preaching, which is set down into the ideological struggle in the = middle of=20 civil society.' It is a fact that the foremost evangelical and = charismatic=20 sects have played a structural role in the dictatorships of Latin = America.=20 Sects such as The Church of the Word in Guatemala, or the Divine = Universal=20 Church, in Argentina, are directly linked to North American = structures, such=20 as the 700 Club (the real 'seminary' for the formation of gurus, = directed by=20 the CIA), P.T.L. Television, founded by Pat Robertson in Virginia, = Billy=20 Graham Evangelist Association, World Vision International (all part = of the=20 sects=92 money stream)." 25.
THE MORAL MAJORITY

According to the modern = prophets of=20 privatization, Bible doctrine is expendable, but no one may question = the=20 doctrine of unbridled capitalism. Any who go there are labeled = "socialists" in=20 the worst sense of the term. Forgetting that Christ drove the = moneychangers=20 from His temple, one prophet, Willard Garvey, shamelessly named the = Lord Jesus=20 among the founders of Republican government and proponents of=20 privatization!

"Privatization is = documented=20 in the enclosed paper from the Heritage Foundation and dates back at = least=20 to Adam Smith, Plato, Aristotle and Jesus. . .Privatization might = well be=20 the theme for the 200th anniversary of the Constitution. = Privatization is=20 essential for national salvation."
To attain national salvation, the = prophets of=20 privatization determined to build a voting bloc to support their = agenda. In=20 1976, direct-mail fundraising genius of the New Right, Richard = Viguerie, was=20 accompanied to the 1976 convention of the American Independent Party = by three=20 leaders of the New Right with equally doubtful = connections:
  • William = Rusher,=20 editor of CFR member William F. Buckley's National Review.=20
  • Paul = Weyrich,=20 founder of the Heritage and Free Congress Foundation, who employed=20 Fabianist/British race scientist Roger Pearson of the World = Anti-Communist=20 League, the multinational network = of Nazi war=20 criminals, Latin American death squad leaders and North American=20 neo-fascists. Weyrich presently employs top U.S. Fabianist Sir Peter = Vickers=20 Hall and ex-Nazi collaborator Laszlo Pasztor.=20
  • Howard=20 Phillips, who founded The Conservative Caucus (TCC) at the = direction of=20 33=BA Mason, Jesse Helms on whose staff he worked. TCC has an = interlocking=20 directorate (Phillips served on advisory board) with the United = States=20 Council for World Freedom (USCWF) of the WACL. Phillips also = proposed the=20 name for Buckley's Young Americans for Freedom and served on its = board of=20 directors.
At = the AIP=20 convention, Viguerie presented himself as a candidate for the = Presidential=20 nomination of the party of George Wallace, a coalition that included = elements=20 of the Ku Klux Klan, John Birchers and operatives of Willis Carto's = Liberty=20 Lobby. When Viguerie's bid for the nomination failed, the New Right = leaders=20 turned their energies to creating a hard right voting bloc within the=20 Republican Party.
"By 1978, Weyrich's = PAC helped=20 sweep into Congress a new, radical breed of populist conservatives. = The most=20 notable, it turned out, was a brash, young man from Georgia named = Newt=20 Gingrich [33=BA Mason, CFR] whom Weyrich had trained years earlier = at a=20 campaign seminar in Milwaukee. Finally, on the verge of realizing = his=20 right-wing utopia Weyrich harvested what his friend Morton Blackwell = termed=20 'the greatest track of virgin timber on the political landscape':=20 evangelicals." 26.
In=20 1979, Robert Billings of the National Christian Action Coalition and = Free=20 Congress Foundation invited the Rev. Jerry Falwell to a meeting with = Phillips,=20 Viguerie, Weyrich and Ed McAteer, a retired advertising executive. = Their=20 agenda now was to influence the GOP party platform for the 1980 = election.=20 Weyrich proposed that if the Republican Party would take a strong = stand=20 against abortion, the large Catholic voting bloc within the Democratic = Party=20 would be split. At this meeting, the term "Moral Majority" was coined = to=20 represent the ecumenical bloc of voters that would be led by the Rev. = Falwell,=20 who pledged to "turn this (country) into a Christian = nation."

The Coors family, which funds = abortion=20 and gay rights causes (having made their fortune from the manufacture = and sale=20 of beer), generously funded the Moral Majority and built the = headquarters=20 building for Paul Weyrich's organizations, the Heritage Foundation and = Free=20 Congress Foundation. During the Reagan Administration, the Heritage = Foundation=20 served as almost a shadow government with Joe Coors' Kitchen Cabinet = setting=20 up offices within the Executive Office Building. During its first = year, the=20 Reagan administration adopted fully two-thirds of the recommendations = of=20 Heritage's Mandate for Leadership: Policy Management in a = Conservative=20 Administration.

Working with the main = architects and=20 commanding generals of the New Right was also John T. (Terry) Dolan = co-founder=20 and national chairman of the 300,000-member National Conservative = Political=20 Action Committee (NCPAC), the largest conservative political action = committee=20 in terms of spending and influence including Jesse Helms' = Congressional Club=20 which was a client of NCPAC. =

Weyrich, Viguerie and Dolan = are Catholic;=20 Phillips is Jewish but claims to have converted to Christianity. Terry = Dolan=20 was a homosexual who died of AIDS in 1986. In his expose of the New = Right,=20 God's Bullies, Perry Deane Young set the record straight on the = religious makeup of the New Right leadership:=20

"We are told that out of [the=20 Fundamentalist tradition]...a new and powerful force known variously = as 'the=20 new Christian right' or 'the religious right' or 'the moral = majority' has=20 emerged. We are led to believe that these groups, or this movement, = sprang=20 naturally from the fundamentalist soil. But such is not the = case.

"A fundamentalist is generally = defined as one=20 who believes in adult baptism (that one should have a choice in the = matter=20 and be old enough to know what he is doing), in a literal = interpretation of=20 the bible, and in being 'reborn' or 'born again' through a personal=20 experience in accepting Jesus Christ as one's personal Savior.  = This=20 definition does not begin to cover all those in the religious = right. =20 There are Orthodox Jewish rabbis on nearly every one of these = groups' boards=20 of advisors. In most cases, the groups themselves were set up by = Catholics.=20 The idea for a Moral Majority, Inc., and the name itself came from = two=20 political operatives in Washington=20 -- one a Jew, the other a Catholic.

"The most effective = leaders of=20 the new right are nearly all Catholics. The following are only a few = of=20 them: Phyllis Schlafly of Eagle Forum, Terry Dolan of National = Conservative=20 Political Action Committee, Robert Boege of the National = Conservative=20 Foundation, Robert Bauman, former national chairman of both Young = Americans=20 for Freedom and American Conservative Union, and Richard A. = Viguerie, whose=20 direct-mail expertise made winners of them all." = 27.
Terry Dolan was also a former member = of the=20 advisory board of CAUSA USA, whose president is Bo Hi Pak, top aide of = Sun=20 Myung Moon. In 1984, Dolan's organization, NCPAC, received $775,000 = from Rev.=20 Moon. Terry Dolan stated that the secret of fundraising is to try to = "make=20 them angry and stir up hostilities. The shriller you are, the easier = it is to=20 raise funds. That's the nature of the beast." 28.

Appeals to fear and loathing amongst Christians in order to = raise=20 funds for right-wing causes was the brainchild of Richard Viguerie, = whose=20 enterprise was rescued from near bankruptcy in 1986 with an account = for=20 distribution of the Unification Church-owned Insight magazine. = In 1987,=20 Bo Hi Pak, a former Korean military-intelligence officer and Moon's = top U.S.=20 operative, paid $10.06 million for Viguerie's office building. Also, = in 1987,=20 Viguerie became Secretary, strategist and fund-raising genius of the = newly=20 created Moon-controlled and funded American Freedom Coalition (AFC), = an=20 alliance of political conservatives and conservative religious groups = and=20 individuals. In this position, Viguerie mailed millions of letters = appealing=20 for funds to lobby aid to the Contras and promote Oliver North's = testimony=20 before Congress. 29.

RELIGIOUS=20 ROUNDTABLE

 

Present at the meeting in which New Right leaders founded = the Moral=20 Majority, Ed McAteer had been a sales marketing manager for = Colgate-Palmolive=20 Company. However, McAteer had retired to become director of the = Christian=20 Freedom Foundation (CFF), an organization devoted to training = evangelicals for=20 places of leadership in government. From there McAteer served as = national=20 field director of Howard Phillips' Conservative Caucus. Bill Bright, = the=20 founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, was closely allied with the CFF, = which=20 was heavily funded by Amway billionaire, Richard DeVos, who in 1975 = took over=20 the CFF. The GroupWatch file on Campus Crusade for Christ = speculates=20 that Bill Bright, formerly a fancy foods salesman who decided the = gospel could=20 be marketed in the same manner as any other product, may have an = agenda other=20 than evangelism:

". . .Bright's early = connections with Third Century Publishers and the Christian Freedom=20 Foundation . . .have led many to believe that Bright's and CCFC's = goals are=20 to bring the policies of the evangelical far right and laissez = faire=20 capitalism around the globe, including, or perhaps especially, = the U.S.=20 government. Bright himself does not come from a ministerial = background, but=20 was a businessman in food specialty and candy sales."=20 30.
In 1979, = retired=20 sales executive Ed McAteer founded the Religious Roundtable of 56 = members=20 who symbolized the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. The=20 Religious Roundtable is a coalition of conservative business, = military,=20 political, and religious leaders working together to politicize those = who=20 believe in traditional values and to influence government. Weyrich, = Blackwell,=20 and Falwell were among the 56 Roundtable members and Robert Billings' = son,=20 William, was the first editor of the Roundtable Report. = 31. McAteer's=20 Religious Roundtable brought together the top leadership of the = Religious=20 Right and worked as an informational clearinghouse for large = organizations=20 such as the Christian Broadcasting Network, Billy Graham Evangelistic=20 Association, Moral Majority, Christian Voice, Church League of = America,=20 National Religious Broadcasters, Campus Crusade for Christ, Plymouth = Rock=20 Foundation, the National Association of Evangelicals, Gideon Bible, = Wycliffe=20 Bible Associates, and Intercessors for America.

 

WYCLIFFE BIBLE=20 TRANSLATORS

 

Ed McAteer was also a member of the board of Wycliffe Bible=20 Associates, a lay ministry which was created to support the work of = Wycliffe=20 Bible Translators, an evangelical organization that raises funds and = recruits=20 missionaries to do the work of the Summer=20 Institute of Linguistics. Bill Bright served on the board of the=20 International Linguistics Center in Dallas, which is an associate = group of=20 SIL. The Summer Institute of Linguistics was established in 1936 by = William=20 Cameron Townsend as a scientific, nonsectarian organization = specializing in=20 language studies, literacy work and "other services." 32. An expose of = SIL's=20 corruption by Rockefeller money mentions Cam Townsend's role in = founding the=20 Religious Roundtable with Ed McAteer.

"In 1979, after = Nelson=20 Rockefeller had passed from living humanity into history, Cam had = gathered=20 with other members of Christian Fundamentalism to form the Religious = Roundtable. . . Cam was one of those who followed McAteer into the = founding=20 meeting of the Religious Roundtable. If he had any reservations = about where=20 this would lead SIL and how it would play in Latin America . . ., = Cam's base=20 of support in the homeland and his top financial backers left him = little=20 choice. He was, at the end of his career, trapped by the Far Right=20 Fundamentalist base on which he had built Wycliffe's success at = home."=20 33.
In this = massive=20 volume, Thy Will Be Done: The Conquest of the Amazon: Nelson = Rockefeller=20 and Evangelism in the Age of Oil, authors Gerard Colby and = Charlotte=20 Dennett present the disturbing evidence of Rockefeller's use of = American=20 missionaries, and in particular, the Summer Institute of Linguistics, = who=20 cooperated in conducting surveys, transporting CIA agents and = indirectly=20 assisting in the genocide of tribes in the Amazon basin.
"At the heart of = this story=20 are two intensely ambitious and ultimately tragic figures: Nelson=20 Rockefeller, scion of the liberal Standard Oil family, and William = Cameron=20 Townsend, founder of the ultraconservative Wycliffe Bible = Translators.=20 Although leaders of opposing camps, both found common cause against = fascism=20 and the communism, with ironic, fateful results.

"We see Rockefeller = gathering political=20 power and building a vast business empire in Latin America, working = with the=20 CIA, developing close friendships with famous Latin American = politicians and=20 businessmen, and increasingly advocating military dictatorships, = while=20 Townsend's missionaries are used to pacify native populations in = frontiers=20 rich in oil and rare minerals or subject to guerrilla insurgencies. = Seeking=20 to hasten the prophesied Second Coming, Townsend pursues a fanatical = effort=20 to reach every Bibleless tribe with the Word, even to the point of = saving=20 their souls by destroying their culture and allying with the = dictators who=20 oppress them.

"Rockefeller and Townsend = contributed=20 more than any other Americans to the conquest of the Amazon that now = threatens to destroy the 'lungs of the planet,' the rain forests. = Their=20 systematic campaign of colonization was a chilling foretaste of = American=20 intervention in the Third World that has become so common today we = take for=20 granted repeated forays in the name of democracy and the securing of = valuable resources." 34.

Colby and Dennett also describe the vital role of Ed McAteer = in=20 bringing together wealthy liberal and conservative patrons to fund and = direct=20 the Wycliffe organization which, in the name of Christ, was assisting = Nelson=20 Rockefeller in the conquest of Latin America:=20
"Yet, of all the = principles=20 building the Religious Right into a cohesive political force, the = most=20 important was perhaps the least known. Edward McAteer was the=20 Colgate-Palmolive salesman who was the real organizing force behind = the=20 politicized Fundamentalist movement. McAteer had the glib tongue of = his=20 profession, substituting Christ for soap in his market analysis. He = was more=20 than a friend to Cam Townsend; he was a major figure on the board of = Wycliffe Associates, which was now a powerhouse of resources for = SIL,=20 providing it and [Jungle Aviation and Radio Services] with = construction=20 skills, money, promotion, and overnight stays for furloughed = translators on=20 fund-raising tours. In return, testimonies from returned = translators, films,=20 books, and slide shows parlayed surrogate travels around the world = for=20 suburban believers. Special trips to jungle bases allowed the more = affluent=20 faithful actually to partake in adventure for God. The sheer human = energy=20 amassed by Wycliffe Associates was impressive, but the financial = core was=20 fueled by reliable wealthy SIL backers like North Carolina's James = A. Jones,=20 one of the largest contractors for military bases in Vietnam, and = oilman=20 Nelson Bunker Hunt of Texas. 'Bunker Hunt had helped me = considerably,'=20 McAteer freely offered.
"Wycliffe Associates = '500=20 Club' was designed to offer the richer members a way out of service = through=20 cash; $500 or more each year was all it took to get a special = certificate of=20 membership. Some gave much more. Texas's corporate leaders were = prominent in=20 helping Cam build SIL's International Linguistics Center near = Dallas; the=20 Linguistics Center's board meeting was one of those special = occasions where=20 a Rockefeller business partner like Trammel Crow could rub shoulders = with an=20 ultrarightist like Nelson Bunker Hunt. But they were the old core of = supporters. The real power in Wycliffe Associates was its thousands = of newer=20 members, spreading the influence of SIL across the country, and the=20 influence of Wycliffe Associates in Cam's organization."=20 35.
As Ed = McAteer's=20 applied his advertising and public relations skills to finance the = Summer=20 Institute of Linguistics, these techniques would serve him well in = organizing=20 a base of support for the election of Ronald Reagan:

"Promoting and leading this base of support into politics = was=20 McAteer's forte. During the Carter administration, his name began to = appear=20 among New Right circles in Washington, D.C., connected with North = Carolina's=20 Senator Jesse Helms. It was McAteer who brought Jerry Falwell into = this=20 crowd, helping Falwell build the Moral Majority. Then, in 1979, = McAteer=20 organized the Religious Roundtable. Well funded, McAteer pulled = together=20 many of the Fundamentalists leaders of the nation to back the = candidacy of=20 Ronald Reagan. 36.

COUNCIL = FOR NATIONAL=20 POLICY

 

Nelson Bunker Hunt and Bill Bright were boardmembers of the = SIL=20 associate, International Linguistics Center in Dallas, in which board = meetings=20 "a Rockefeller business partner like Trammel Crow could rub shoulders = with an=20 ultrarightist like Nelson Bunker Hunt." Bunker Hunt was/is also a = trustee of=20 ILC, a board member and leading financier of the John Birch Society, a = major=20 supporter of the Campus Crusade for Christ and third president of the = Council=20 for National Policy.

The board of directors and early=20 membership of Ed McAteer's Religious Roundtable reads like Who's = Who in=20 the future Council for National Policy. 37. In 1981, the CNP was = founded as a=20 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization by Tim LaHaye of the = Religious=20 Roundtable, who was also the first CNP president, with funding from = Nelson=20 Bunker Hunt who served as third CNP president from 1983-84. Bunker = Hunt was=20 also among several principals of the Western Goals Foundation, the = domestic=20 surveillance arm of the John Birch Society, who also served on the=20 newly-formed CNP Board of Governors.

In 1972, the JBS promoted the = book,=20 None Dare Call It Treason by John Stormer, which identified the = Council=20 on Foreign Relations as a pro-Communist Rockefeller-funded Trojan = Horse on=20 American soil. The Council for National Policy was formed ostensibly = to be the=20 conservative alternative to the Council on Foreign Relations and John = Stormer=20 is currently a member.

Since its inception, CNP = membership=20 directories have been 'confidential,' CNP meetings are closed to the = public=20 and media and the very existence of the Council for National Policy is = denied=20 by high profile Evangelical leaders who publicly clamour for = conservative=20 policies in government. Responding to an inquiry by researcher K.E. = Barr=20 regarding the nature of the CNP and the reason that meetings are = closed even=20 to Christian media, a vice president of Focus on the Family presented = the=20 confused image of a Christian organization that is not involved in=20 policy-making [only education] and yet cannot risk media = exposure:

"[Paul] Hetrick = repeatedly=20 described the organization as a 'meeting of like-minded people.' He = claimed=20 that the CNP is a group of conservatives concerned about the = direction of=20 the country, who felt the need for an organization to counter the = liberal=20 agenda. He told me the network of leaders across the country meet = two to=20 three times a year to discuss issues involving '1) free enterprise, = 2.)=20 defense, and 3.) traditional western values.'
"In response to = being asked=20 how the CNP implements their policies, he said the title of the = group may be=20 misleading, and doesn't properly describe their activities. He = claimed that=20 they don't actually develop policies. They are, according to = Hetrick,=20 'strictly educational' in nature. Regarding the secrecy of their=20 organization's purpose and membership, he stated that the only = reason=20 Christian media is not allowed in their meetings is that: 'you can = never=20 tell if they are really Christians or not." = 38.
Early CNP membership directories were = obtained by=20 enterprising researchers, however, and these revealed that the early=20 leadership of the CNP was, in fact, also represented in the Council on = Foreign=20 Relations -- the very organization of globalists to which the CNP was = to be=20 the conservative alternative! On the first CNP Governing Board there = were no=20 less than three, and possibly more, members of the CFR: George F. = Gilder -=20 CNP Board of Governors (1982) ; Dr. Edward = Teller -=20 CNP Board of Governors (1982); and Guy = Vander=20 Jagt - CNP Board of Governors (1982). = 39.

Robert = Waring=20 Stoddard who also served on the 1982 = CNP Board=20 of Governors was affiliated with the CFR through his Boston newspaper. = 40.=20 Although we lack confirmation of this, Ron Miller, author of Distant = Drums,=20 stated that "sources in high places" have identified Jesse = Helms, who=20 served on the original CNP Board of Governors, as a CFR member in = 1972. 41.=20 Later CNP directories list CFR members J. Peter = Grace (CNP,=20 1984-85; 1988) and Arnaud=20 deBorchgrave (CNP, 1988). =

The 1984-85 membership = directories=20 advertised the CNP Board of Governors quarterly meetings at the = following=20 world class resort hotels: The = Breakers [Palm Beach, FL], Marriott Rancho Las = Palmas=20 Resort [Palm Springs, CA], Camelback Inn = Marriott=20 Resort [Scotsdale, AZ], The Broadmoor Hotel = &=20 Resort [Colorado Springs], The=20 Homestead [Hot Springs, VA], Le=20 Bonaventure Hilton [Montreal], Colonial=20 Williamsburg [Williamsburg, VA], The=20 Westin [Dallas]. 42.

After CNP membership = directories were=20 obtained by researchers and copied for distribution to Christians who = support=20 CNP organizations, venues of future meetings were not included in = their=20 directories. However, researchers were made privy to a 1998 CNP = meeting that=20 was held at the luxury Ritz-Carleton = Tysons=20 Corner hotel in McLean, Virginia. [See IFAS: News Reports for = information on this meeting.] 43. =

Profiles of other prominent = CNP officers=20 and members reveal a shocking number of CFR connections, such as the=20 aforementioned William Rusher who was editor of CFR member William F.=20 Buckley's National Review. Even so, these revelations should not be = surprising=20 since the CNP was an extension of the John Birch Society whose early=20 leadership consisted of members either directly or indirectly = associated with=20 the CFR. In 1976, The Belmont=20 Brotherhood 44., an expose published by former JBS officers, = identified=20 the following glaring conflicts of interest:=20

  • William Grede - = Founding JBS=20 Council Member and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the = Council was=20 also director of the CFR-created and controlled 7th Federal Reserve=20 Bank.=20
  • William Benton = McMillan - First=20 Life Member of the JBS was also a member of the St. Louis Committee = of the=20 Council on Foreign Relations=20
  • Robert Waring = Stoddard - JBS=20 Council Member and Chairman of the Board of the Worcester Telegram = and=20 Gazette whose editors belonged to the local Committee of the Council = on=20 Foreign Relations. Stoddard was also on the Board of Directors of = the=20 National Center for Privatization.=20
  • J. Nelson Shepherd = - JBS=20 Council Member and a member of the Newcomen Society, whose president = Charles=20 Penrose, Jr. was also a member of the Pilgrim Society and = the=20 English-Speaking Union, whose elite membership -- Paul Warburg, = J. P.=20 Morgan, John W. Davis, Bernard Baruch, Otto Kahn, Jacob Schiff, and = John D.=20 Rockefeller, to name a few -- founded and financed the Council on = Foreign=20 Relations. 45.=20
  • Spruille Braden - = JBS Council=20 Member and a resident member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a = director=20 of the W. Averell Harriman Securities Corporation, and an advisor to = Paul=20 Warburg, a principal architect of the Federal Reserve System. =
  • Louis Ruthenberg - = JBS Council=20 Member and Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. =
  • Cola Godden Parker = - JBS=20 Council Member and a member of the Newcomen Society, whose = president,=20 Charles Penrose, Jr., belonged to the Pilgrim Society and the=20 English-Speaking Union.=20
  • Martin J. Condon, = III - JBS=20 non-Council member who was on the Editorial Advisory Committee of = American=20 Opinion magazine and also a member of the Newcomen Society.=20
  • Charles Edison - = JBS=20 non-Council member who served on the Editorial Advisory Committee of = American Opinion and was a member of the Pilgrim-connected Newcomen=20 Society.
Additionally, the=20 youth organization of the John Birch = Society, Young Americans for Freedom [YAF], was = founded by=20 William F. Buckley, who is also a Skull & Bonesman and Knight of = Malta.=20 Various JBS and CNP members have been involved with YAF, including = Lynn=20 Bouchey, Connaught Marshner and William Rusher. 46. Howard Phillips, = head of=20 the U.S. Taxpayers Party (U.S.T.P.) and The Conservative Caucus (TCC)=20 appointed many YAF members while acting director of the Office of = Economic=20 Opportunity under Richard Nixon. 47. Richard Viguerie, who with = Weyrich,=20 Phillips, Blackwell, Falwell and McAteer founded the Moral Majority, = was the=20 Executive Secretary of YAF from 1961-64. 48.=20

Besides CFR and Religious = Roundtable=20 members, the upper echelon of the Council for National Policy were = basically=20 refugees from the defunct Western Goals=20 Foundation, the domestic surveillance outfit of the John Birch = Society=20 which included high-ranking members of the fascist World = Anti-Communist=20 League, Knights of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the = Unification=20 Church of Sun Myung Moon and Freemasonry. 49. There is some = overlapping of=20 Western Goals operatives who formed the early CNP Governing Board who = were=20 also CFR and/or Religious Roundtable members:=20

  • John = Singlaub=20 [CNP Board of Governors 1982-83]. Member of national policy board of = the=20 American Freedom Coalition [AFC], a front for Sun Myung Moon's = Unification=20 Church.=20
  • Daniel O. = Graham=20 [CNP Board of Governors 1982-83]. Member of national policy board of = AFC.=20
  • Mildred Faye Jefferson = [CNP Board of=20 Governors 1982-83]. Member of national policy board of AFC.=20
  • Sherman = Unkefer=20 [CNP Board of Governors 1982-83]. Served as an adviser to Chile's = regime=20 under Augusto Pinochet and reportedly worked closely with Chile's = secret=20 police organization, DINA.=20
  • Hans = Sennholz=20 [CNP Board of Governors 1982-83]. A decorated pilot in the = Luftwaffe, Adolf=20 Hitler's elite air corps.=20
  • Robert = Stoddard=20 [CNP Board of Governors 1982-83]. Listed in The Belmont = Brotherhood,=20 as Chairman of the Board of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, = whose=20 editors belonged to the local Committee of the CFR. Board of = Directors of=20 Willard Garvey's National Center for Privatization.=20
  • Larry = McDonald=20 [CNP Board of Governors 1982-83]. President of the John Birch = Society;=20 Chairman of the Board of Directors of Western Goals Foundation, and = served=20 on the Congressional Board of Christian Voice, a front for the = Unification=20 Church.=20
  • Nelson = Bunker=20 Hunt [CNP President 1982-83, Executive Committee 1984-85, 1988]. = Knight of the Order of Malta. Member of a = racial=20 eugenics organization, the International Association for the = Advancement of=20 Eugenics and Ethnology, that was headquartered in Scotland. IAAEE = was=20 established in the U.S. by Lord Malcolm Douglas, a member of the = British=20 Cliveden Set which supported Hitler during World War II.=20
  • Oliver = North [CNP=20 Governing Board 1984-85] Formed the Military Assistance = Group-Special=20 Operations Group (MAG-SOG), a political murder unit, and = participated in=20 Operation Phoenix which killed about 100,000 civilians in Southeast = Asia.=20 North received aid from the Unification Church and Knights of Malta = for=20 Contra operations in Latin America.=20
  • Howard = Phillips=20 [CNP Executive Committee 1984-85, 1988] Director of The Conservative = Caucus,=20 served on advisory board of the United States Council for World = Freedom=20 (USCWF) of the World = Anti-Communist=20 League, a multinational network of = Nazi war=20 criminals, Latin American death squad leaders and North American=20 neo-fascists. Conservative Caucus board member and funder, Richard = Shoff, is=20 a former Grand Kilgrapp of the Indiana Ku Klux Klan.=20
  • Major F. = Andy=20 Messing, Jr. USAR (Ret.). Former chairman of The Conservative = Caucus;=20 Board of USWCF; Director of the National Defense Council Foundation. = Collaborated with Linda Guell of CAUSA (a political arm of the = Unification=20 Church) and its head, Bo Hi Pak. to provide funds for Oliver North's = operation in Latin America.=20
  • J. Peter = Grace [CNP=20 Board of Governors 1986] Council on Foreign = Relations;=20 Head of Order of Knights of Malta in the U.S.; Chairman of W.R. Grace Co which focuses = its business=20 activities in Latin America and assisted the Contra operation in = Latin=20 America.=20
  • William E. = Simon=20 [CFR; Knight of Malta]. Secretary of = the Treasury=20 under Richard Nixon; Chairman of the Nicaraguan Freedom Fund (NFF), = a=20 fundraising organization set up in l985 by the Washington Times, a = newspaper=20 owned by the Unification Church. Trustee of the Heritage Foundation. = According to Sidney Blumenthal, Simon is or was a member of the CNP. = [IRC: = Americares]=20
  • Frank=20 Shakespeare, [Knight of Malta]. Council U.S. Information Agency director = and=20 director of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, a Nazi front = established by=20 Hitler's espionage officer, Reinhard Gehlen. Trustee of the Heritage = Foundation.=20
  • Dr. Edward = Teller=20 [CNP Board of Governors 1982] Council on = Foreign=20 Relations. Hungarian-born American physicist who became the = architect=20 of the hydrogen bomb. During World War II he was a member of the = Manhattan=20 Project for the development of the atomic bomb. Teller was a member = of the=20 Citizens Legal Defense Fund for the FBI, Ad Hoc, and advisor to the = Western=20 Goals Foundation.
It is=20 significant that Nelson Bunker Hunt, the founder and main funder of = the=20 Wycliffe Bible Associates and Council for National Policy, like many = founding=20 CNP members, is a Knight of the Order of Malta. According to Russ = Bellant,=20 "Although it poses as a Catholic organization, the Order of St. John = of=20 Jerusalem is a Masonic group that claims to be the real Knights of = Malta. It's=20 Grand Master for fifty years until his death several years ago was = Charles=20 Pichel, and adviser . . .to Hitler aide Ernst Hanfstaengl." = 50.

Occupying a position in = McAteer's=20 Religious Roundtable, 33=BA Mason Jesse Helms was also a key figure in = founding=20 the CNP. With his top aide, attorney Tom Ellis, Helms had put together = a=20 national political machine that was unprecedented for the ultra-right. = Tom=20 Ellis -- who directed the agency which funded racial science for the = purpose=20 of eliminating inferior races -- was president of the CNP after Tim=20 LaHaye.

"Tom Ellis was = former director=20 of the Pioneer Fund, a foundation which finances efforts to prove = that=20 African-Americans are genetically inferior to whites. Recipients of = Pioneer=20 grants have included William Shockley, Arthur Jensen and Roger = Pearson, who=20 has written that 'inferior races' should be 'exterminated.' All = three and=20 others were funded during Ellis' directorship on the Pioneer board. = Yet=20 Ellis served on the CNP's thirteen-member executive committee with = Holly=20 Coors, Paul Weyrich, and Heritage Foundation president, Edwin = Feulner until=20 June 1989. Oliver North and Reed Larson recently joined the = executive=20 committee." 51.
With the=20 help of the Viguerie Company, Helms and Ellis' organization, the = Congressional=20 Club, funded candidates and solicited support on favorite issues = through=20 direct-mail campaigns. Helms' popularity increased during the Reagan = era, when=20 ideological conservatism experienced a resurgence at the same time = traditional=20 values of fundamental Christians were under siege.
"The National = Congressional=20 Club is Jesse Helms' PAC based in Raleigh and directed by Helms' = senior=20 advisor, attorney Tom Ellis. The Congressional Club began after the = 1972=20 Senate campaign, when Ellis retained Richard=20 Viguerie to help pay off the Helms = campaign=20 debt. Ellis and Viguerie built the Congressional Club mailing list = to more=20 than 300,000 regular contributors -- a constituency for Helms and a = major=20 financial resource within the conservative movement. . .Helms has = used his=20 political organization to build connections with New Right and = conservative=20 political activists. Besides Viguerie, Phillips, and Dolan = connections,=20 Helms is actively represented in Weyrich's coordinating groups. = Helms is the=20 chief legislative strategist for the conservative social agenda. . = .Helms=20 also occupies a central position in the religious right as a member = of the=20 Religious Roundtable, a lay preacher, and a former radio and = television=20 evangelist." 52.
